Re: Inserting a bitmap into a movie

That is my point, the frame size has to be the same for each frame in a movie. Now, if you start with a new blank movie the issue is moot and I agree with what you propose.

Why would that be easier? And why do you want to 'secure' the help anyway?

Yes, SQL Server is a pig. IMHO way to huge of a db engine for what Analyzer does. And I think the system requirements apply to the Analyzer application, not the SQL Server.

Re: Inserting a bitmap into a movie

You just need to be aware then that all frames in that movie will need to be resized and that means stretching the bitmap background for those frames who do not get a new background. That really just transfers the problem to different frames and may have a way bigger impact than one frame to be in ...

Re: What do you think about the Ribbon?

I'm suprised MS didn't offer an "Office Classic" option - the way you can revert to the traditional gray Windows theme in XP and Vista. When XP first came out a lot of people used "Window's Classic" but most desktops you see now are using XP's (or Vista's) native themes.

Huh? Now what I ...

Re: Where is the wish list or suggestion box topic located?

I like the idea of a public list and having people vote for their favorites, but I doubt that MadCap's management is willing to do that.
I never understood why a spelling error reported by 500 people supposedly gets fixed more likely than a fatal crash that five people reported.

I know, I know, I now get the argument that the customers ..... and that new PCs all have Vista ..... gee, everyone breaks ...

Re: Pasting from MS Word

No idea, but this was commented on many many many times and one can only hope that future versions of Flare will preserve paragraphs. The reason appears to be the attempt to strip all formatting, but I agree that ripping everything out makes the basic cut&paste to be unusable at times. If you have a ...

Re: Aren't underlined hyperlinks THE web style usability std

That really depends on the audience and how much time I have on my hands. Often the audience doesn't care, but sometimes they don't consider something not underlined to be a hyperlink and also consider everything that is underlined as a hyperlink. So if underlines are just used for text emphasis ...

Can someone else generate output? I guess it is project related, but that would make sure it really is.
Did anyone import anything into the project recently?
Also, as far as I know there is no difference in the project files between 3.0 and 3.1, so you could update without everyone else doing so as ...

It is a massive piece, but so is the application that it is for. But that includes topics that result into a "custom" glossary, so there were hundreds of topics that consisted of one sentence. Also, most of the topics were written once and then never will be touched again as those portions of the ...

Re: What do you think about the Ribbon?

Like it or not, the ribbon is the new black. Ok, so it's a bit on the brown side right now, but it will be the new black when MS decides to stop providing support for MSO2003. The fact of the matter is that Windows and MSO still dictate industry standards, and over time, loads of software vendors ...

Re: Chaps i think there's a need for a Really Good Flare book

The harsh reality is that you can't buy a new computer off the shelf that doesn't have one or other version of Vista on it. That means that our new end users have Vista, and our existing customers will upgrade at some time or another, so in turn that means that our application has to run on Vista ...

I'm sure you don't want to deal with our tech support as well as your own (but my dissatisfaction with ...

Re: What do you think about the Ribbon?

Maybe Microsoft should have descoped all the garbage features that were added during the years. I really don't care any longer about MSO. Re: What do you think about the Ribbon?

I used to use the ribbon in MSO2k7 and I found it to be distracting, counter-productive and more a toy than a tool. Please, no ribbons in MadCap products! Maybe a ribbon around the box that gets shipped to the 10,000th customer.

One option would be to install Mimic in the VPC image as well. You can install Mimic as often as you want using the same license key as long as you have Mimic open in only one place. Maybe that gets you around the error.

Re: Relative path from project directory

What you can do is store the project on a network share. That way all writers will work off the same set of files. While that works you will encounter a noticeable performance loss, especially when compiling the project. You also have no means to control who is working on what, which may cause some ...
