Uhm, many of us are less blessed and live in the PC world. Did you come across a tool that does the same task on a Windoze system?

...and it should be quite easy to implement those into Flash output. At least YouTube uses Flash video and I use it since years on my own web site and I must say, given the size of the files it is just awesome quality, especially when it has to get delivered via the web.

Re: New MadCap products!
YEAH!!! MadCap X-Edit Express will be a great thing, especially when it is even easier to use than Word. Yes, it has to be on the level of Notepad and not be more complicated than Wordpad at the most. Many times subject matter experts are neither tech writers nor do they know much 'about computers ...

Re: Best Source Control/Backup: Perforce? CVS? Other?
I recommend treating documentation in no way different than software code. In fact, it is the same as code. The language used is even more complex than any of the programming languages, but various functions and modules are created that then get compiled to executable output. With that said I think ...

Dwag, good that you have a solution now, but believe me, you really do want to look at Master Pages. It is amazing what you can do with that feature.

Re: Website Link
What do you mean with "less busy"? You can add that link to a master page and set all topics to use that master page, which will then have the result that Flare slaps the hyperlink into every topic upon compile. Can't get any easier than that.

Re: Flare 3.1 fails to install in Parallels
That would apply to running Flare, but if I understand correctly the installer dies unexpectedly, so .NET shouldn't be the issue. Since Flare uses the dreadful MSI files it may be worthwhile to see what is up with the Microsoft Installer runtime. If MadCap would just use a plain simple installer ...

Not even when adding the script into the onLoad event? That would show the topic in the topic pane and as soon as the topic page is loaded in the frame the script gets executed, which then should show the pop-up. Not that I ever tried that....

Re: Snippet Suggestions suggestions
I haven't looked at Analyzer for a while, but I was also under the impression that this feature works the way you expect it. I also figured that this is one of the reasons for using a database. I guess it may be worthwhile the fine print as I doubt that the documentation states that it will generate ...

Re: installation issues of Flare - invalid hostname
In any case, I highly recommend the upgrade to XP. It seems that Microsoft got a handle on all the driver and stability issues in XP that exist in Vista. Also, Microsoft did a great job in improving XP performance, it is about 1/3rd faster than Vista.

Re: Import Lock UP
Your best bet is to get in contact with MadCap support and send them the file over to see what makes Flare to keel over. Maybe it is something that can be changed in the Word document without changing the ultimate result.

Re: How do I delete a project?
IE creates tons of temporary internet files for you, but does it ever delete them? Once a file is deleted it is gone, obviously. So adding an annoyance factor to deletions is actually a good thing. When designing applications one has to make sure that deletions are an act of full intent.

Re: How do I delete a project?
The only application I ever came across that lets you do that is Notepad. Other than that, file locks are life savers and exist for good reason. Can't just pull the rug under an application's feet and assume it is all working out OK. I bet you can't delete the executable file of an application that ...
