Re: Source Safe question
Although I have a local copy of my sources this doesn't mean the source I have locally is the latest (ok, 99% of the time it will be, but...). The idea is to allow engineers the possibility of changing source if they need to, so the control system sources must always be the "master" copies. I ...

Re: Source Safe question
First of all, there is no benefit in storing both source files and output in the source (!!) control system. I recommend that you only keep the sources in the system, but nothing else. Checking the output in only bloats the bloatware VSS even more, same applies to program code, nobody in their right ...

Re: GIF screenshots not readable
And the compression algorithm in PNG is better than in GIFs, the legal aspect is no longer a point as the Unisys patent on the LZW compression used for GIFs expired a few years ago. Although higher color depth is nice to have, I found that the 256 colors are more than sufficient for screen shots ...

Re: How do I package to send to a translator?
No, the way Lingo is intended is to be the tool for doing the translation. So you would need to make sure that the translator has a Lingo license....would be nice if one could request temporary licenses from MadCap for a small fee. That way you could buy Lingo and buy a license for a contractor that ...

Re: How do I get Flare to integrate into CVS?
Well, I proposed a different way to accessing source control systems: through the command line. All source control systems I ever came across have extensive command line commands, especially CVS and SVN, but also VSS for example. Sure, it would be open for goofups when editing the command line ...

Re: Page swap, or maybe auto-save?
Flare doesn't have auto save (why not? even DOS editors had autosave) and the swapping is something done by the OS. I use Flare on XP 64bit as well and haven't encountered any issues so far.

I am sure it takes way less people to change the Viewer than it apparently requires to initiate that change. Says a lot when this thread is the liveliest of any for DotNet Help.

Flare CSH Call for PHP
Attached is version 1.0 of Flare CSH Calls for PHP. The included PHP file allows for easily adding WebHelp CSH calls to any PHP application. The file includes two functions, one is the main function generating the link for accessing the help. The second function is a wrapper for the first function ...

Re: How do I get Flare to integrate into CVS?
Flare is designed to work only with the single-vendor, proprietary MSSSC API. That is of course only available natively in expensive Microsoft applications. But, the folks at http://www.pushok.com made a plugin that gives CVS or SVN the MSSSC API capabilities so that it can be made work with Flare ...

The driver API specification was released not even a month before Vista hit the shelves and as far as I know it was changed twice since then. No wonder why there are no drivers. Microsoft doesn't make it easy.

Which strong points does Vista have? It is bloated, slow, doesn't run a lot of software, is excessively expensive, is a resource hog, uses insane amounts of drive space, and after switching off eye candy and annoyances does exactly the same as XP...just by 1/3 slower. Oh, and the DRM and license ...

I cannot give you any tips for the programming issue, but it is that Flare uses the same HTML Workshop compiler to create CHMs. You can find a project file in the temp folder of the output folder for your project. Try and give that a go with HTML Workshop and see what the result is, that may narrow ...

There is a Strong Chance that the ability to remove the Splash Logo and the Caption will be In Flare Version 4. Due to development Issues I can't confirm anything untill Flare v4 ships. The more people who request it the better the chance it will make it to Flare V4.

For me it is a non-even as I haven't used FM in the past and although I id think about looking into that I rather wait and spend my time on Blaze. I did work with FM7.2 for a short while and really wondered where the developers got their GUI design ideas. FM operates like no other application on the ...
