Re: how do i create an OL style w/ LI # above the LI text
Steve's suggestion of using Autonumbering is probably the way to go.
With standard HTML lists, there is a limitation in that there is no tag associated with the actual number. This makes it difficult to format the number separately from the list item. It's possible to use the margin and padding ...

Re: Difference between snippets and variables
You certainly could do snippets with multiple sets of conditionalized text in each in place of a variable with multiple values, if the snippet is only ever used in the text of a topic. But there are things you can only do with each method.
With variables, you can insert them in TOC entries and ...

Re: PDF TOCs - hide H2s in TOC but show in Bookmarks pane
There are p.TOC1, p.TOC2, p.TOC3, etc. styles which are used to format the entries at different levels of the PDF, so if you set the p.TOC2 to display: none in your CSS then you should get what you want.

Re: Footer Width
Check the formatting on your body element. I suspect you have a fixed width for that body element which is causing your stuff to be that particular width, which is going to prevent what you are doing from working because the div you want lives inside this body.

Re: Hyperlink to output of a Target using Conditional text
OK, I think what you are doing is that you have a master project, and you have another project with two targets for Android and iOS, both of which are included in the master by specifying the flare project and target in the TOC.

Re: Base auto-numbering on TOC outline level
Since you are doing such different configurations, you should make a separate TOC for each target, with the appropriate chapter breaks specified. Then you should be able to use the PDF formatting option you mentioned to assign heading levels per the TOC and autonumbering on the H1 in your stylesheet ...

Re: Topic to hold entire manual (part of larger project)
The right way to do this is simply to insert a reference to Manual 3 in the TOC of each of these other projects and thus merge them as described here:

Re: how do I format the print version of a web page output
There are two different aspects here: printing from the web page and creating a PDF. Both use the same CSS styles from the print medium (unless you specify a different medium for your PDF), but the print layout is a thing that only exists inside the Flare project, and is only used when building your ...

Re: Large complex table conversion issues (Microsoft Word to
If the color pattern restarts after each separator, consider splitting the table into multiple tables at each separator. This might also make Flare more easily digest the import.

Use a variable to do that. You can specify multiple values for a variable and choose which one to use for each target.

Re: Link below search box in tripane
I did do this (I put it in the topic toolbar area on the right, while the buttons provided by Flare are all on the left). You will need to add custom javascript to the skin on the toolbar tab to create it. You will need to use the DOM (document object model) functions to build this up piecemeal ...

Re: Drop down text and ordered lists
When you insert a drop-down text, the first paragraph of the selection is expected to be the text for the link which remains visible when the drop-down is closed. It wouldn't make any sense to put the list as the thing to click on (and the list is all inside its own tag, so it wouldn't break apart ...

Re: Can I create a div on my masterpage to be fixed?
Fixed div doesn't seem to work. See, what I was trying to do was add "buttons" to the master page instead of the skin, so I am using a div table format. (See screenshot). Wjhat I want is for the black div with the links to stay put when a user is scrolling.

Since I am retrieving images from a network drive, there may be a scan happening on a server so I'm unaware of it.

Re: Creating a TOC for print
Does that circular error say it is a circular reference ? That suggests you have a TOC structure where perhaps TOC A includes TOC B and TOC B includes TOC A.
If that's not it, you should definitely work with MadCap tech support again to try to resolve that error, because setting up a topic with a ...

Re: PDF - Use project TOC but maintain topic headings
It's not simple but it can be done, but I do have to agree partly with your comment that you may be asking for something stupid. Usually, if these are meant to be subordinate topics and you set up the TOC to show them that way, you also use progressively smaller headings to indicate this subordinate ...

Re: Conditions in Linked TOC
A way to get something close to what you were describing is to put each section in a drop-down, and each time the topic appears in the TOC, have the TOC entry point to a bookmark inside the appropriate drop-down. This will cause the topic to appear with only that drop-down open.

What it suggests is that the alias is linked to a bookmark in the TOC, or to a path which does not match the TOC in case.
