Re: Italicize See and See aklson in Indexes?
David, given your status as a Flare beginner, I suggest you work in the Stylesheet Editor and then adjust the several selectors that control the formatting of See and See Also and, optionally, also of the terms they'll point to. Specifically, you'll need to adjust the following (a couple of which ...

I've never put animated gifs in my Flare projects -- in micro content or anywhere else -- so I don't have any more advice to offer.

Re: How do I create an animated gif for Flare Project?
Neither Flare nor Mimic are designed to create animated gifs. You’ll need to use another tool to create them, and then you can add them to the Flare project so you can use them in topics (with the Insert Media command [I think… I don’t have access to Flare at the moment]. I suggest you search the ...

Welcome to the forums! ;)
I guess I'd tackle it this way, if there aren't too many targets (and maybe even if there are!)...
I'd do an export operation for each target. That way, for the selected target, I'd end up with a new project that had in it only the topics associated with that target. In ...

I assume that you'll be generating HTML5 help of one sort or another.
One way is to zip up the output itself and then, depending on the size of the zip file, either attach it to email or put it in a cloud folder such as OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. If the latter, share the zip ...

The OP was actually asking how to create a two-column presentation for online output, rather than creating a two-column page design for print output. That said, the description you offer of your steps for creating the latter is welcome. Thanks!

So have you configured your PDF target to exclude the TWNote condition? I would think that would solve the issue, yes?

Re: Cross-referencing to one topic under multiple headers
Yes, that is a common practice. But don't have the heading be in the snippet. Have each topic have its own "live text" heading.eric21 wrote:Do I need to create three separate topics and use snippets rather than just linking to one single topic in the TOC?

Re: Navigation Arrows from Topic to Topic
Yes, that is the expected behavior. The Previous and Next buttons allow the user to step up and down the TOC, aka, the menu structure in HTML5 ouptut. Topics need to be on the TOC is order for those buttons to work for those topics.

Re: Flare not generating output in onedrive folder
Although I can't find a reference to OneDrive in the Flare documenation, as far as I know, storing Flare projects in a cloud folder such as OneDrive is not advisable. Flare projects should always be local. The syncing with a cloud folder that goes on the background is apt to cause issues such as ...

Re: How do I create a cross-reference to a numbered step?
My only reservation about my Listapalooza ideas now three years later is that not all of my ideas might be accessibility compliant. I definitely no longer recommend using paragraphs with auto-numbers in lieu of true <ol>s, as I said earlier in this thread.

Might there be some anti-virus activity going on in the background? Just a thought. I think I've seen others mention that what anti-virus activity interferred with Flare. Not sure why it would start up, though, when you added Font Awesome.

I've continued to think about this idea of xref-ing to a numbered step and, WOAH, I offered a solution back at MadWorld 2019 in my Listapalooza session, which I also did as a webinar! Gosh, I had completely forgotten.

I don’t know of a way to delete all the tagged content in one operation. The workflow you describe is exactly how I’d approach getting rid of the old content.

Re: How do I create a cross-reference to a numbered step?
There is a difference between using a defined Paragraph style that is configured with auto-numbering and simply clicking the "numbered list" button on the tool bar to make an Ordered List. One makes an object that has a numeric reference, while the other is a construct formed when a browser renders ...

Re: Two Identically Created Tables Not Outputting Same Size
If the tables are set up identically, then I’d suspect something inside the tables. For example, does the image in your second example have some padding or margin around it, either directly in the code of the topic or perhaps in a Capture .props file (if you use Capture)? Some CSS “closer” to the ...

Re: What is a div for and how does it differ from a span?
Clearly others' mileage varies, but I haven't had the sweeping issue with div and page breaking reported above, and I've been producing PDFs with Flare since around 2008. When I get wonky page breaking in or near divs (or anywhere, actually), I investigate my CSS and typically find that some page ...

Re: Use span.myStyle or .myStyle for text formatting?
The selector that is just the "dot" selector is a generic selector, meaning you can apply it to lists, tables, divs, paragraphs, spans -- anything. But that might not yield the result you expect univerally. If you are trying to define a selector that you'll only ever apply to inline characters, then ...

Re: What is a div for and how does it differ from a span?
As noted above, the most salient things about a div are that (1) it is a container able to hold other tags such as paragraphs, images, lists, tables, headings, even other divs and that (2) it can be formatted. For example, many authors use divs to contain notes or other alerts. Instead of having ...
