Menuproxy breaks navigation buttons (sometimes)

Hi,

I have strange problem in my Topnav project in that the next/previous buttons don't work on certain pages in which we've inserted a menuproxy.

To confuse matters more, it doesn't always happen as some pages work fine. I've tried to add the menuproxy to the master page but I have the same ...

Change autonumber visual style (not format)

Hi,

I'd like to change the appearance of the number in an autonumbered list. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a style specific to the number - instead, it encapsulates the whole list element.

I'd prefer a design in which the number is visually distinct from the list element. Is this ...

Re: Third-party search engines

Thanks for the info. I've also discovered that Google search won't let you remove ads (for commercial use) and there's a limit to the number of searches per month, which makes it incompatible with our requirements.

Be interested to hear your findings with the third-party searches. Will they ...

Third-party search engines

Hello,

Has anyone had any success adding third-party search engines to the Flare output? For us the Flare search is too limited as we need to search documents stored externally to the Flare project.

Unfortunately the Google search is causing too many problems (it redirects to google, it causes ...

Re: Change color of selected topnav menu item

Thanks for the quick reply, sounds promising.

Before I go ahead, I also realised that I'd need to update the topnav item when interacting with the side menu. The side menu and topnav are different versions of the same TOC, so I'd need to highlight a topnav item if I browse to the corresponding ...

Change color of selected topnav menu item

Hello,

I'm using a topnav template and trying to bring our Flare output inline with our main website. One of the characteristics of our site is that the topnav menu bar item changes color once selected and stays that way until another option is selected.

I've seen solutions in regular css/html ...

Re: Multiple Top Navigation Bars

Hi,

Did you get this to work? I'd like to have second nav bar which is generated using a different TOC, or entirely manually. But I can't see where/how to insert the menu proxy.

Thanks,
Ian

Could anyone tell me how the search results are supposed to display? As Madcap support don't seem to have a clue!

Google search results replace topnav layout

Hello,

I'm trying to add Google search to a topnav layout to enable us to search different sites for our product help. I've followed the instructions here:

Re: Adding external text editor to 'Open with'

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I get 'Open With' in Windows.

Several reboots later and it's still not working.

Perhaps the feature is limited to certain editors?

Adding external text editor to 'Open with'

Hi,

I'm trying to add an external text editor the 'Open with' option when right-clicking a file. I followed these steps:

Unfortunately it didn't work, even though the correct app icon (in this case ...

Bookmarks missing from reports

Hi,

I'm using a report to check where bookmarks are used in a project. However, for certain bookmarks, they neither appear in the 'used bookmarks' report or the 'unused bookmarks'. This seems to be due to them having the same name as bookmarks elsewhere in the project.

So if there's a bookmark ...

Make part of master page conditional on topic property

Hi,

We have a large user guide and use a mini-toc in a drop-down on our master page to avoid having to add them to all our (hundreds of) topics manually. (We've put the mini-toc in a drop-down as they're often large and we prefer them to be expanded optionally.) We're happy that these drop-downs ...

Automatic changes causing version control problems

Hi,

Flare makes automatic changes to the MadCap:lastBlockDepth, MadCap:lastHeight and MadCap:lastWidth in the second line of each topic, which means that our team can't use version control without a conflict every time two people work on the same file. It's a real nuisance as it means dealing with ...

Update... Just tried an evaluation version of Capture 7 which seems to be working.

Now I just need to find out if my Company can update. (Though given Capture 6's performance I'm surprised it doesn't show up as an upgrade).

Can't paste then crop

Hi,

I have an old screengrab that I've opened and I want to update it by pasting a new, smaller image from a more up-to-date screen grab. I then want to crop this to size.

The problem: the crop excludes the newly pasted image. In other software, I can flatten the image to incorporate the pasted ...

Thanks Mike.

I seem to have got a workaround using background-image as you suggested. For anyone else that may come across this problem, here's my CSS for <li>:

list-style-type: none;
color: #000000;
orphans: 2;
widows: 2;
font-size: 1em;
mc-hyphenate: never;

The mysteries of bullet alignment

Hi,

I'm unable to come up with a solution to change the vertical alignment of a bullet image alongside the text in an <li> style.

In Flare my bullets are raised above the text as seen below (note the first bullet is custom image that I've added, and it's in a different <ul> set for testing ...

Image corrupted in HTML 5 Top Navigation output

Hi,

I have a PNG in a source topic a few hundred pixels wide - nothing out of the ordinary, 941x61 px. The source image class is img.OneHundredPercentThumbnail.

When I generate the HTML5 output or when I preview as primary target, the image undergoes a bizarre transformation. The resulting image ...

Load Failed in an unordered list

Hi,

I recently moved a project to a new computer by installing a new version of Flare 11 and checking-out project files from an SVN repository. I've now discovered that, without making any changes, the unordered list style no longer works - instead it shows a 'load failed' message.

I should say ...

Re: Error 10083: The process cannot access the file

Just to add, it's not just Adobe Reader processes that you need to check for. If you're using another PDF reader, such as Foxit Reader (in my case), check for a stray process using task manager. I had this trouble with a Foxit update process hanging around after I'd quit the application. Once I ...

Hi Lydia,
