Can you create a TOC entry from a heading within a topic?

I mean manually. I know about using the inserting or replacing computed entries on the TOC topic.

This is a top-level topic with other topics beneath it. When you use the Computed Entries feature - either Insert or Replace - the results are not good. Insert repeats the whole topic with computed ...

Re: Build Terminated

Chocciemuffin,

Thank you! MadCap Support suggested the same thing. I did it; it did not work. I then uninstalled Flare and its registry keys. In fact, I uninstalled all Flare apps and registry keys and then reinstalled twice and the problem persists.

Windows is saying that Flare is incompatible ...

Re: Build Terminated

Paulie,

Thank you! I just created a brand new project from factory Flare templates and experienced the same problem. It must be Flare. I have a colleague who works in Flare about 5% of the time. I did just ask her to try to publish her project just to see what happens.

If I zip my current project ...

Build Terminated

Hi,

I am having a serious problem. When I go to build my projects - all targets - the build terminates immediately. There's no log because the process never runs long enough.

I have contacted MadCap Support. Their suggestion was to delete the Output, Analyzer, and User folders in Windows Explorer ...

Re: Google Chrome bug?

@phlawn - To give you an idea what we are all talking about, because of the namespace update in Google Chrome, the HTML5 output from Flare 11 looks like this when the you hover the mouse over the content:

Chrome47Issue.png

It's using the hover styles that have "MadCap |" at the beginning for all ...

Re: Google Chrome bug?

Yes, copy and paste the entire line! :D

Also, make sure that the styles.css that you're adding it to is the one in the Resources folder and not for the skin. The developer did this wrong the first time and then so fast the second time that I didn't catch it even though I was standing behind ...

Re: Google Chrome bug?

@davelee - Well I was sure you must have been wrong because I would never ... except that I did. :x
That was the problem. I must have copied and pasted without those end characters and didn't notice. Then, I copied and pasted out of the file. The MadCap code works fine and did not cause any of the ...

Re: Google Chrome bug?

EDIT - Our lack of ability to update the server has to do with the developer updating the wrong "styles.css". He was accidentally updating the skin styles.css file. I did not know they had the same name until now.

@ecjoe - We were able to fix it by updating the local files. When I posted the ...

Re: Indenting Tables

Thank you! I had actually created a new table style with an indent, created a new table, applied the new style and it didn't work at all. I was starting to huff and puff here when I saw your answer.

Re: Indenting Tables

Is there a way to indent just one table and not all tables with that style? Do I have to create a whole other table style?

I just worry about them getting out of sync; I'd rather have a sub-class.

Re: Nested lists, large images, body tag and max width

This is not an answer. I am just wondering why you use max-width on the body tag instead of letting the natural wrap text take care of that. What is the advantage to doing that?

Forcing Links to PDFs to Download Instead of Open

I have inserted a number of PDFs (mainly release notes) into my Content folder and link to them with hyperlinks. This all works just fine.

I would like the links to download to the user's computer instead of opening in the browser. Is there anyway to do that? Just curious.

Re: Conditional Online Outputs for Different Software Versio

That is very interesting. It's easier to manage conditions on styles than on images?
Is the main benefit visual? Meaning that the color block for the conditional easier to see in the topic.

What about the <img> tag?

Re: Conditional Online Outputs for Different Software Versio

Thanks, Nita.

I've used conditionals minimally over the years because I don't think that Flare has a good way to manage them in bulk. For example, in the File List, images with conditions are blank in the Conditions column. When, I open the file, there's a condition on it. That has always made me ...

Thank you, Dave. I was just figuring that out when the email notification of your response came through. :)

Every image would have to have at least condition.
Images that need to appear in both versions need to have both conditions (X and ...

Conditional Online Outputs for Different Software Versions

I have a new situation that require me to do more with Flare than I have before. Before I invest the time to figure all this out, I want to make sure Flare is capable of doing what I need.

I am currently working on two distinct versions of our software. So far the main difference is the screenshots ...

Thanks again! I keep forgetting about that UI Text tab in the skin. I've only been on 11 a few weeks.

Oddly enough, there are entries for the text on items that I can't figure out how to get in the skin yet.

Re: PDF Stitch Icon

Thank you! I was able to figure this out:

You have to create a TOC entry class for PDFs in the skin. Find the PDF icons you want to use and select them in the four dropdown lists:
PDF_TOC_Entry_Skin.png

Then, in the Properties of the individual TOC entry you want to display the PDF icon, select ...
