Re: Tablet Medium Skin - Help!

Does anyone know how to set the color on the blocks and the font in them?
The window doesn't show those items, so I can't hover over them to find them.
(God, I only knows what I actually modified trying to figure this out. )

Thanks!

Search Result Features

After attending MadWorld, I am testing out the search filter/concept functionality. However, on showing it to my BA and PM, they asked for a whole different set of search functionality.

Can I select a book in the TOC/Nav panel and only search it?

Printing HTML5 Topics

I need some clarity on how to control the format when users print help topics from the published help.
My understanding is that the print medium in the stylesheet is used (which is why you need to make a separate one for PDF output if there are differences).

I have found this to be true for the ...

PDF Stitch Icon

When I add a PDF to the root level of the TOC is there a way to add the PDF icon so that the user knows it's a PDF.

I know Adobe has all kinds of icons. I also know that I can pick an icon in the TOC topic properties.

What I don't know is how to get a PDF icon into this list so ...

Re: Opening a topic with the Navigation bar open

Thank you, Dave.

Somehow, I feel like I should have known that. I've always thought that option had to do with synchronizing multiple TOCs. This issue sparked a discussion here about how options are named.

The software I work in has all these configuration options with bizarre names. We try to ...

Opening a topic with the Navigation bar open

Is it possible to have a topic open with the Navigation books already open so that the user can see where the topic is in the TOC.

Use case:

User presses F1 or clicks Help menu > Help
The linked topic opens as follows:

Book 1 | Topic displaying
Book 2 |
Topic |

Right now, my CSH links go to ...

Re: SnagIt on the Right-Click Menu

Thanks guys!

I had already done many of the things you described to no avail. I must have selected the SnagItEditor.exe 50 times and it still wouldn't take.

I just did an uninstall/reinstall and that seems to have worked.

Thank you!

SnagIt on the Right-Click Menu

When I right-click on a graphic in Flare, I see the option for SnagIt, but the graphic won't open in SnagIt.
Right-Click_SnagIt.png
Flare has also errored out a few times when I have clicked on the SnagIt entry.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Re: Conditions on a Style?

Thank you, Dave. You confirmed what I thought was true.

The genesis of my question was that a potential solution was described to me poorly; it actually looked like stylesheet code with conditions on the style. That notation was probably supposed to be instructions, but I could not gain clarity ...

Re: Conditions on a Style?

Hi Dave,

Sorry for the lack of clarity. What I would like is to build a condition into the style so that any content in that style is tagged for print or online output automatically, without the added step of selected the text and creating assigning a condition to it.

For example, H1.print and H1 ...

kwaq_myers - I am in the print medium. The problem is that the styles in the print output medium also exist in the other mediums.

ChoccieMuffin - I was pretty much coming to the same conclusion; namely, that you have to apply the condition to each instance of the style in the topics. However, you ...

Conditions on a Style?

Hi,

Is it possible to put a condition on a style?

I am trying to come up with a workable solution for the Chapter Heading in print. A solution was proposed to me that included using a paragraph class (instead of an H1 style) and then make that p style print only. I cannot figure out how to do this ...

Re: Set target to print background images?

Thank you for the link. I tried a few of these solutions.

The -webkit-print-color-adjust: exact; code does only work in Chrome as he said.

The Pseudo-Element Solution didn't work, but I suspect that it has to do with the way I applied it. I entered the text as shown in the sample, but there must ...

Set target to print background images?

All,

I have inherited a "p.note" style that includes a note background image. As those of you who have had to deal with this, you know that the note icon is not printing when online help topics are printed.

Chrome is the only browser that give the user the option to print background images. When ...

Graphic editor plugins

Hi,

I just had to reinstall Flare and decided to upgrade to Flare 10 at the same time. In the reinstall/upgrade, I lost the shortcuts to external graphic editors that used to appear when I selected an image and right-clicked. I used to have shortcuts to SnagIt and MS Paint in this list. Now, I ...

Re: In need of Word output tips!!

Joe,

For Google Drive, are you saying that you could upload your HTML output files and they could be downloaded as Word documents. I've run a few tests and I don't see that possibility. I'm not sure that's workable either because the HTML output contains links to graphics which do not download.

Parsing Bad Code from RoboHelp Import

I have just been informed by MadCap Support that the code in many of my files are not structured and that the lack of structure is causing many of the random problems I am experiencing. Table functionality is the most troublesome because, apparently, tables are the most sensitive about the code ...
