This behaviour in Flare is driving me mad.
If I create a one paragraph table cell, the cell generates to word with a "td" style, but if I add a second paragraph, then Flare wantonly wraps both paragraphs in p tags so they generate to Word with a "p" style. This makes it difficult to control the ...

White space in lists and table cells
I've noticed that, if I have white space in my html markup between the a list item (<li>) or table cell (<td>) and the contents of that element, it does not appear in online output - which is as it should be. But in Word output, it renders as a single space before the start of the list or cell ...

Re: Menu in TopNav Master Page issue
I didn't have the same symptoms as you (which is why I wasn't sure it would be helpful). I had a toc that worked fine in both Flare and as a top menu, but in the context sensitive side menu some of the links didn't resolve correctly. The output built successfully though. I looked at the toc in a ...

Re: Menu in TopNav Master Page issue
This may be no help, but I've had problems with the context sensitive menu in the topnav output that I traced to bad links in the toc - the links pointed to the correct topics and worked fine in Flare (and in the top level menu), but they didn't render correctly in the side menu. It might be worth ...

Is there any other way to pick up parameters that appear after the hash? From location.hash maybe? Or does that strip out those parameters too?

Re: Tabbed Content Using jQuery UI
I tried using the basic tabs example from jqueryui.com which works OK with a topnav output (and presumably a tripane one too) if you load jquery-ui with RequireJS. The tabs are all in a div with an id of "tabs".

How about using "window.top.location.href"? Works for me.

I use Git Extensions.
There are also some free online interactive Git tutorials - for example at Code School (which has lots of cool stuff) and coming soon at Codeacademy.

Re: How do I count all the links in my project?
True, it comes down to why you're counting links in the first place I guess. If you want to search in the output then it would be easier to use a tool like PowerGREP or similar.
Actually I've never used the database for counting links (not having any reason to do so). The main use I can think of ...

Re: How do I count all the links in my project?
You could query the SQLite database in the Analyser folder (Content9.s3db). It has an OutgoingLink table that includes a LinkTag column, so you could filter out undesirable link types (like links to images or snippets or whatever) and just count hyperlinks or cross references for example.

Re: Include files in output without link
Ah of course! Thanks - it hadn't occurred to me to include javascript with a link rather than a script tag - I had some scripts that I wanted to include but not to load (so I could load them later).

Include files in output without link
Is there a way to force a file to generate to the output folders without including the file in a TOC or linking to it in a topic? I don't want to choose the option to include all files in the project, I just want to specify one or two.

You could add a third party commenting system like Easy Page Comments. I've used this for internal review comments. I'm not sure that it would be robust enough for public use but there may be other similar options.

Madcap Flare for Programmers
I've just bought this new book by Thomas Tregner and David Owens. It's now available from Amazon in Kindle format. At first glance, it looks fascinating and a must-have for those who like to tinker. My only disappointment is that it doesn't deal with version 11.

Re: Search not working in HTML5 output/Flare 11
I notice that the upgrade doesn't fix the problem with script errors preventing search results from being displayed. As far as I can see, the Top Nav and the Tri Pane skins both load the same version of JQuery (and RequireJS). Did you come up with any solution to this wclass?

Re: Topic Toolbar Proxy in HTML5 Top Nav not showing Prev &
Bear in mind that Back and Forward do not have the same behavior as Previous and Next. Back and Forward allow one to step backward or forward through pages already visited in the order in which they were visited. Previous and Next are based on the TOC and allow one to "step up or down" that TOC. I ...

Re: Topic Toolbar Proxy in HTML5 Top Nav not showing Prev &
I put my own forward and back buttons in with some javascript. They call window.history.forward() and window.history.back(). I gave them the built in "button" style and used appendChild to add them to the topic toolbar.

Re: What's up with my menu skin?
Fixed - it was a bad toc.
When I created the TOC by copying from another toc, all the links broke (I'm not sure why this happened because it usually works fine). Anyway I fixed the links by editing the fltoc file directly (there were a lot of entries). The toc then worked fine in Flare, and in the ...

Re: What's up with my menu skin?
I've tried setting the menu proxy skin in the target and setting it to default in the proxy in the master page, and I've tried setting it explicitly in the menu proxy as well - both produce the same result though. In one sense the side menu 'works' - I do get a side menu, and it does display the ...

Re: What's up with my menu skin?
Yeah I do mean the side menu - sorry for the confusion. I don't think it's the skin that's the problem, it's the proxy. I'm seeing the styles for the skin now.
