Hi all,
I'm seeking advice on the best way to display data from a single source in multiple topics.
Here's my scenario. I have a list of of presentations that I need to display in several topic pages on a website. For example, on one of the pages I want to display the whole list and allow users ...

Re: Flare turning JavaScript into CDATA
But what's interesting is that as soon as I fix the problem in the XML file, the CDATA is no longer there when I view the code in the browser inspector. Instead, I see parsed content.

Re: Flare turning JavaScript into CDATA
I just learned something else that I wanted to post here, in case it's helpful. I made some changes to my JavaScript file, and suddenly Flare changed the function call into CDATA again.
Turns out I had a syntax error in the changes. As soon as I corrected that, the CDATA problem went away ...

Flare turning JavaScript into CDATA
Hi all,
I'm trying to use XML on a Flare page with JavaScript, similar to this example on W3Schools:
https://www.w3schools.com/xml/ajax_applications.asp .
The target is HTML5. I've done this type of thing successfully multiple times on non-Flare websites.

Flare topic not refreshing after changing snippet
The answer to this question may be obvious, but I've looked in the interface and searched this forum and haven't found it. :?
When I'm authoring a topic in Flare and I replace an existing snippet with a new one, the new one doesn't show up right away. It is apparently a refresh issue, because if I ...

Commit reverts file to an earlier state
Something very strange is going on. Yesterday I opened a snippet file I'd been using for weeks. Oddly, a section at the top and at the bottom had disappeared. I thought maybe I'd accidentally deleted the sections, though it didn't seem likely, as they were in separate places.

Re: Sequence contains more than one element
I just discovered that unbinding the repository apparently emptied it! That was a negative side effect I definitely wasn't expecting. Afterward, even when I committed my project from Flare, it didn't show up in the repo. I had to unbind, delete the repo, recreate it, and bind again to get things ...

Re: Sequence contains more than one element
I just started getting this error too. I had recently changed several filenames (not folder names, as the OP did). Maybe that has something to do with it.

Hi all,
I'm creating documents with a Resources section. The Resources section can have up to four subsections.
I want the subsection title to appear only if I've listed resources under it--in other words, make it conditional based on whether or not there's content below it.

Re: Tables, their styles and applying other classes
A trick I just discovered is to wrap the whole table in a div with a class. Then you can refer to that class in your stylesheet. For example, I wanted to set column widths on a table using the Flare "TableStyle-PatternedRows" class, but couldn't add another class to the table tag because Flare kept ...

Re: Need context-sensitive, ordered list of related topics
Dave,
Thank you! I didn't realize Flare already identified, by a hash sign, any link on the current page pointing to itself. What you suggested worked perfectly.

Re: Hamburger menu misaligned on smaller screens
On the top nav skin Setup tab, you can set the Pane Position to left or right - presumably you've set it to left?
If you try this with the default top nav skin, the hamburger icon appears on top of the logo, so I guess you've found a bug!
Thanks, Dave. I tried both the left and right positions ...

Hamburger menu misaligned on smaller screens
Hi all,
I'm using a frameless skin with top navigation. When I view my output on a screen small enough to display the hamburger menu, it's misaligned (see image).
I thought it might be because I'd hacked the heading not to use a logo image, per this post:

I was having the same problem with search not working. Increasing the chunk size didn't help. I even installed the latest Flare 11 update today, and that didn't help either. But when I disabled jQuery in my master page, search started working again.

Re: Single-sourcing Glossary Terms within Drop-Down Snippets
jryanatwork,
I wanted something similar--mainly because I want to include HTML links in some glossary terms that lead to more information. I'd hoped to find a way to put the glossary term in a snippet (or something similar) and then include it, HTML link and all, in the glossary.

I've noticed the same problem since upgrading to Flare 11. At first I thought it was just me, but it's been happening too often so I know it's not my imagination.

Re: Comparing / merging Flare projects (using Source Control
A quick way to compare (for one-offs) is to generate both versions of a topic using a Word target, and then do a compare in Word (I had to do this today, in fact).
This method would only be feasible for very small comparisons, though--just a couple of docs. It would be horribly tedious for anything ...

Re: Conditions not working as expected at the folder level
Well, I discovered the solution to one problem--why building Target C didn't exclude files in the Target A folder, even though I'd specifically excluded Condition A from Target C. I had accidentally not changed some links in some Target C files, so they were pointing to files in the Target A folder ...

Conditions not working as expected at the folder level
My project has three conditions. I have three targets that each include one condition and exclude the other two--i.e.:

Re: Add Custom Content to Header
I've written some instructions on how to do this for the tri-pane skin, with an example project.
You can find it here - there's a section on how to add text to the main header (desktop medium) and responsive header (tablet/mobile mediums).

Re: HTML5 <video> or <object> tag?
I was having similar issues. Today I got my mp4 to work by inserting it normally in Flare (which of course created object tags). Then I went into the text editor, replaced the object tags with video tags. Flare wouldn't accept the simple addition of the controls parameter, but when I put controls ...
