For some reason, only when the XML and Text Editor tabs are missing and you're in source code mode, if you hit Ctrl-F2 the current document opens in a new window in XML Editor mode (with the tabs). I find this very handy when finding and replacing in the source code.
So, between the ctrl-` key and ...

Re: Move files in bulk
When I click that button (the Toggle Show Files button) in Flare 10.1, nothing seems to happen at all (and the drop-down arrow does nothing either).
What am I doing wrong? Multiple file selection would be supremely useful indeed.

Keep fighting the good fight on the Capture front. If MadCap makes Capture actually, you know, good as well as super-convenient, it would be a huge benefit to the product and my ability to recommend it to others.

Kerning aka letter spacing, image auto-shrinking
So, in my PDF outputs, I noticed that my Helvetica 11 Point bold words have really spaced out letters sometimes. Also, headings tend to have lots of extra space added. Not only does this look funny, but when I convert PDF output to Word documents, the word output interprets these letter spaces as ...

Re: Single sourcing test scripts from exercises
As an update, for now I've decided to create a separate target and set of topics for the short term task because the content is different enough. Still not decided about the longer term one. I'll modify one topic using conditions and one using classed spans as a test. If I can do what I need to do ...

Re: Single sourcing test scripts from exercises
Patterns could be helpful.
What I'd like is the ability to have a label that is "always on" as opposed to needing to hover over it, or better yet, a keyboard command to cause all hovertext items to appear. This would also be useful when looking up a lot of image filepaths.

Hey, thanks for the replies.
Conditions were my first thought as well of course, but this would basically mean marking up the entire document extensively and I'm concerned about readability with conditions. Also, I'm red-green colorblind, so this adds significantly to my hesitancy to use new ...

Single sourcing test scripts from exercises
Hello all,
I'm faced with a bit of a conundrum. I (apparently) need to develop very basic test scripts based off of user exercises in very short fashion (we're a very small shop), and was wondering if anyone had dealt with this before.

Re: Background Image in Style Doesn't Appear in HTML5 Output
I know there's an option in Capture to use a separate format for Print and HTML output in a pretty "single-sourced" fashion, but if you're interested, someone (or some web help) more knowledgeable than I would have to provide you details.

Re: Index warning mystery
Sorry, I was trying to generalize. By "alias" I meant "See" links. To be clearer, I have an index term named X, and I have two more terms that have "see links" as the Flare Help calls them, or index cross-reference links, that refer the user to index entry X when they look up term Y or term Z
So ...

Re: Word output issues (I know, shocked)
Word has some advanced scripting abilities. It might be possible to use a Word macro (perhaps called automatically when the output is built) to do some fairly invisible cleanup.
That's my plan if I ever have the nightmare scenario of trying to get Word output working anyway.

So, this isn't life or death by any means, but it's rather annoying.
I have a project that I build several targets out of. One target which has a small subset of the overall topics is throwing two errors:

Re: Add print conditions to pdf
That being said, it would be (relatively) easy to create a separate "printer friendly" target, though, yes? The downside is that you'd have another Table of Contents and maybe another Stylesheet (I'm not sure) to maintain, which may or may not be worth it for you.

Yeah, slideshows are nice and all, but I'm eagerly awaiting a potential "MadCap Capture" update.
In fairness, though, the responsive HTML 5 stuff was badly needed and was an amazing feature.

Final update: It's working. I made the margins bigger and then put in a classic "1 px tall white text" H1. Kludgy, but it works, and the title will be picked up for search results too.

Okay, so, I've made progress. I've gotten rid of the blank page and identified the problem with the page number.
1) The blank page was because the image was too big. For some reason, it added the blank page before the diagram as opposed to after it (?). Reducing the top and bottom margins solved ...

Thanks for the suggestions kwag, but no dice.

Agreed. Quite happy overall with my transition to flare, but the Word output is a complete trainwreck.
If the Word output was better, PR for Flare with Management would be SO much easier. They do love their Microsoft Office.
