Re: PDF TOC nth level appearing as top-level in output
I noticed that the headers in the default "Advanced" template only goes up to h6, which is the exact cutoff where your heading styles stop working. I wonder if h7-9 aren't fully supported or are just buggier possible?

Re: how to turn off preview of stylesheets in style select menu?
Hey,
Thanks for the warning. I did go with the disable option just due to the convenience of the Options > Disable dialog. I disabled everything that I didn't want to see in the Select window (except for main, "unclassed" styles like pre, fieldset, and the like) to avoid the sort of issue you're ...

Re: Mixed alignment in footer
Just a quick note from one beginner to another:
You might want to also check out TableStyles. They seem to be the "best practice" way to format tables from what I can gather, though the simple footer table probably doesn't require it. The in-Flare editor is a bit tricky (it sizes its windows really ...

Re: Complete Capture newbie trying to start out right
Excellent, thanks for the feedback! Atomdocs, using image files in a central folder and copying them (and their corresponding props files) is an interesting idea, especially with the image synchronization option.

Capture Single-sourcing general concept
Okay, so I have another general capture question. Unfortunately, I think I know the answer, but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. Basically, can an image have more than one props file?

Re: Image Containers?
Thanks for the excellent responses! It certainly seems like <p> tags are the way to go and making one or more p.img classes is a necessity.

Image Containers?
Hi all, pesky newbie back again.
This time, I'm curious what people do for image containers. Do people put them in paragraphs, divs, or straight in the body? I know some people wrap them in a div for captioning and the like, but where do you put the actual <img> tag?
I'm trying to figure out how ...

Hey,

Re: how to turn off preview of stylesheets in style select menu?
Huh! Yes, I see it in the Unclassified group now, and I just confirmed that it is not in the "alphabetical list" view. I had no idea that an attribute could show up in a group but not in the alphabetical listing. I wonder if that's a bug?

Re: how to turn off preview of stylesheets in style select menu?
Ah, I was thinking it was probably a syntax issue, but I didn't see it in the advanced view of the stylesheet editor under the alphabetical listing of all attributes for some reason (maybe I just missed it?) and couldn't find a syntax example online anywhere in a quick search.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Complete Capture newbie trying to start out right
Hi all,
I'm brand new to Capture. Pretty soon, I'm going to be replacing all my imported word images with Capture images, and I really want to make sure I do it right. I've been reading the guides, but I still have many questions. I've set up a basic profile. If there is some sort of resource that ...

Re: how to turn off preview of stylesheets in style select menu?
Well, at least based on Dave Lee's testing and that of another user, it seems to leave the style in the Stylesheet Editor, which seems pretty ideal to me: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=19486&p=102026&hilit=hidden#p102026

Just to get a headstart for the more knowledgeable people, are you using any source control tools? That will probably be relevant.

Re: Align body text block to bottom of page (PDF)
Based on my admittedly limited knowledge, I don't think that editing the Copyright Page Layout will be as manual a process as you fear unless you use the same Copyright page in many different projects and you have no global project that all of your sub-projects are linked to. If your copyright ...

Re: how to turn off preview of stylesheets in style select menu?
In another thread I saw that there's apparently an "mc-hidden" property which will remove the style from most of Flare's UI but not from the Stylesheet Editor. This seems ideal to me and I'll be using this to fix most of my woes.

Re: "Display: none;" not working in TOC
Okay, so, based on what Dave is saying, I have a potentially working but extremely sub-optimal fix. Since no one seems to have any better ideas, I think I'll toss this out there.
Is it possible to keep your main ToC displaying H1-4, but then tweak the TOC 4 style so that it is as close to invisible ...

Re: PDF bookmark but not TOC entry?
I'd agree with this one wholeheartedly. Being able to add a bookmark to a table of contents but not a table of contents link to the table of contents (ow the dumb) is pretty durn fundamental to sensible PDF output.

Re: Grouping for Keeptogether
Ooh, this is a great idea. I sense many hours adding divs in my near future, but it will make my PDF output much happier I think.
I agree that from the little I know the page break before and after avoid attributes is going to result in some pretty odd behavior, though. I'll just use inside:avoid.

Perhaps a stupid suggestion (I'm a newbie), but is this something a Footer or Decoration frame in a page layout could handle for PDF output?

Hello all,
Just as a follow-up on this, per the suggestions in this thread, I did end up using a mixture of headings, lists, and complex selectors.
Chapter is an h1 class, the name of a group of exercises is an H2 class, and the exercise titles are an h3 class. They all use autonumbering ...

Re: chapter name in footer
To partially answer my own question, for now I just edited the First page of the Chapters.flpgl layout so that there is only one body frame and modified the size of the p.ChapNum class. It's working well enough, and now I can have Heading 1 Variable Heading 2 on the left next to my logo, and Heading ...
