Re: Search - "No topics found" message

I had the same issue after installing the latest MadCap Flare version. I have not switched PCs or reinstalled anything else. Perhaps this was caused by a Windows update.
The troubleshooting topic linked to above helped me solve the problem. But it needs to be updated.

Re: CHM Help not displaying correctly after InstallShield ch

Hmm. Thank you, Nita, but I don't think that's the issue in this case. The CHM file is in the same location as always, and F1 opens the context-sensitive topic as it should.

CHM Help not displaying correctly after InstallShield change

We've been shipping CHM from the same Flare project for years. Now suddenly it does not display properly on some users' PCs:
- The styles are all wrong (style sheet not being applied)
- Images display as broken links

Two things have changed since our last release:
- I upgraded to Flare 2021 r3 ...

Re: What output to use for Angular single-page application?

Thank you, Nina!

The meaning of "single-page application" is described here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single-page_application

They may very well want to embed the help in the application, so thank you for mentioning skinless HTML5. I will look into that.

Re: What output to use for Angular single-page application?

Thank you, Dave.

On the contrary, I'm asking what is normal output to generate for an Angular single-page application. I think you answered my question by saying "...opens the HTML5 output in a browser window". So thank you for that. I thought perhaps it was WebHelp or WebHelp Plus that was needed ...

Re: What output to use for Angular single-page application?

Thank you, Nina, but I'm looking for advice that is specific to the type of application I mentioned. I have already searched the documentation and not found what I'm looking for. I also asked the developers, and they asked ME to look into it. None of us know where to start.

What output to use for Angular single-page application?

Any tips on where I can start learning how to create and implement context sensitive help content for an Angular application?
Really hoping to use Flare for this...
Thanks!

Footnote formatting

Footnotes appear in CHM output as popups. That's fine with me.

But I want to change the font and background. I've tried editing the background in the MadCap footnote, footnoteBlock and footnotesBlock styles, but there is no effect. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Just had this same issue, but Windows key + arrow keys had no effect.
Troubleshooting that problem, I found the following, which solved it. Hope this helps someone.

Go to Windows' "Ease of access center" by typing that exactly on START menu's search box.(or, just press WIN+U)

Re: How to delete space after colon in index entries

Thanks so much for that, AlexFox! Very helpful. (Sorry for the delay -- I was on an extended vacation.)

I'm having to eyeball each and every occurrence, since this finds and replaces *every* occurrence in each topic, and I only want to replace occurrences in index posts. So if there is anyway to ...

Re: How to delete space after colon in index entries

Thank you so much for the offer! Seems like it should be pretty simple, but I don't know how to use RegEx to retain existing text while stripping out unnecessary characters.

(BTW, it's not MadCap's translation functionality that caused the problem. It's the translators' method.)

But anyway, here ...

How to delete space after colon in index entries

We had our Flare source files translated into several languages. The source came back with a space after every colon and every semicolon inside the MadCap:keyword tag. The index in the compiled help (CHM in this case) looks fine, but the extra spaces are preventing me from editing keywords in the ...

Index: Colon must *display* instead of making new level

I have a giant help project that has just been translated to Finnish, a language in which a colon often forms part of a word in the same way an apostrophe does in English.

So now I have an index full of instances where the colon has created a new index level instead of displaying as an actual ...

Popup topics to be viewed on hover

Hi, my project is full of popup links to other topics. We want these topics to display on hover / mouseover instead of the user having to click the links. How can we do this?

I tried tweaking the CSS but to no avail.

I found an ancient post on this forum that indicated that an existing javascript ...

Hi, please see attached file. The annotation text looks fine in Capture but it is far too bold in Flare. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Non-breaking hyphen in heading doesn't display correctly

Our product name has a hyphen and a space in it, and we do not want the product name breaking over a line. So I always write it with a non-breaking hyphen (‑) and a non-breaking space ( ).

Now with CHM Help compiled in Flare I'm finding that the non-breaking hyphens look like en dashes. I could ...

Thank you for the suggestion. The stylesheet looked fine.

Except apparently the stylesheet and/or skin were missing some details. I ended up creating a test project based on HTML5. Then I copied over some stuff from the stylesheet and the skin from that project into my real project.

I never got ...

Re: Combine two TM files?

Ok, thank you, that worked -- maybe.

After making backups of everything, I exported each of my TMs, 52 MB and 10 MB, to TMX files.

When I imported the larger TMX into the 10 MB TM, I ended up with 94 MB.

I thought that was fishy so I tried the opposite -- imported the smaller TMX into the 52 MB ...
