Hi,
I am looking for a Best Practice for a couple of things. I create PDF documentation for about 30 APIs. Since these documents probably won't be printed, should I still use a Back Cover and alternating Headers and Footers?
This is too funny and I just have to share, I had spent a lot of time ...

Word doesn't recognize top and bottom margins
Hi,
I have a Page Layout with .25 margins (for large data table), no header and footer. When I build the target the top and bottom margins leave room for a .50 header and footer. The left and right margins are ok. What's up?

Re: Unordered list without bullets CSS
Thank you for your reply. No matter how you cut it, very time consuming. :?
My previous work around was to open the code in NotePad++ and add an outline number to every line of code, copy and paste it into MadCap and then do a find and replace:
NotePad++ Example:
1{

Unordered list without bullets CSS
Hi,
I am documenting code and I need to indent up to 11 levels and I was thinking an unordered list without bullets would be the easiest way to do it, unless someone has a better idea.

TOC has right tab of 5.23"
This is so strange in my Word output the TOC generates with a right tab at 5.23, but the margin is correct at 1 inch. In the PDF target it generates correctly. I don't have a right tab set anywhere that I can find. Also, I don't have media specific formatting. Any guesses?

Cover / Title page graphics don't display in Word
My cover page has a 3 inch high bar that covers the top of the page (edge to edge) and then a 4x4 inch graphic in the middle of the page. The images display fine in a PDF output but refuse to display in the Word Output using the same Page Layout. What's up? Do you have to do something different for ...

Adding Text to Header in a Tripane
Hi,
I am new to MadCap skins and I was wondering if it is possible to add text to the right of the logo in the header and if so how? I am using a Tri-pane layout.
Example:
Logo [text: ABC User Guide]
Next project:
Logo [text: XYZ User Guide]
Thank you in advance for your help!

Split a table into 2 separtate tables
I have a large 30 page table that I am going to break down into categories/separate table. Other than getting into the code is there a way split the table using MadCap?
Worst case scenario I can export to Word, split the table into multiple tables and reimport into MadCap.

Re: Add the word Step before numbering.
Thanks for the code. This is strange I tried using the p.list and it doesn't display in the Styles pod, but if I right-click on the <p> and select Style Class List does display. Is it supposed to work that way?

Add the word Step before numbering.
Hi,
What would the css be to add the word "Step" before each number in an ordered list?
Step 1: xxxx
Step 2: xxxx
Also, I am curious what the css would be if using <p> class.
Thanks!

Stop MC from creating another version of the CSS
Every time I import a document MC creates another copy of my stylesheet and adds a number to the end of it. For example if my css is ABC.css it creates ABC1.css and then I have to do a find and replace to fix it every time and delete the stylesheet. I am importing over 30 documents. Just one more ...

Is there a way to add Unbind to the Quick Access Toolbar? The only way I know to access it is by right-clicking the P block in the left margin and selecting Unbind from the context menu.

Thanks, that worked.
I played around with making a class, this also worked:
MadCap|tocProxy.TOCDepth
{
mc-toc-depth: 3;

Extend image over page margin
Is it possible to extend an image over the page layout margin for a PDF target? I have screen shots of reports, shrinking makes them unreadable, so if the image could overlap the page layout border a little it would fix the problem.

Thank you to everyone for your comments! I ended up with the book properties for Appendix:

and then the piece I was missing :) :

Re: Restart Autonumbering for Appendix Heading Style
Yes, I've read that inline isn't the best way to do it. I haven't had any success with creating a class and I'm not sure I want one more style in the style list since it isn't used often.

Thanks, I found a post that pointed me to the solution:
To display: Appendix A: Title
Inline code: <h1 style="mc-auto-number-format: 'GH:Appendix {A+}: '" MadCap:autonum="Appendix A: ">Title</h1>
