Re: invalid background-color: none
Thanks, Dave. Our stylesheet is set up to use the default medium for its online outputs (WebHelp only at this point). Would you recommend using a different medium for online outputs? (such as non-print or a custom medium)

invalid background-color: none
The <body> tag in our stylesheet is set to a gray background color for the default medium, for our WebHelp output. We don't want a background color for PDF output, so we set <body> in the print medium to "background-color: none" as directed by tech support - is there a better, more "valid" value for ...

table caption width vs. table width
I have table styles set to automatically set column width (and thus table width) by content. Looks great, except for the table caption, which is then constrained to the width of the table. Eager to hear suggestions.

square-root symbol does not show up in PDF
The square-root symbol I inserted using Equation Editor appears fine in the XML Editor of Flare, but it does not show up in the PDF output.

Re: multiple localized CSSs > single PDF
Thanks, Marjorie! Tech support identified the issue as mc-heading-level values applied to non-heading styles (p.ChapterCounter) and being off by one in the heading styles (such as h1 mc-heading-level set to 2). It appears that I need a separate stylesheet for PDF outputs that include multiple ...

Re: multiple localized CSSs > single PDF
Has anyone discovered how to configure PDF builds to derive English phrases “Chapter,†“Figure,†“Table,†and “on page†from a source other than the stylesheet?

Re: multiple localized CSSs > single PDF
Update: Per tech support, there are two places to check if stylesheet is grayed out for topic properties:
* project properties > make sure Master Stylesheet is set to "default"
* (primary) target > make sure Master Stylesheet is set to "default"
I updated my project properties and was then able to ...

Yes, MadCap would be serving its Flare users by providing these instructions. "Renaming shared project files" or similar would be so helpful!

Hi Steve, yes I'm calculating from the complete path (starting with my company's intranet URL) instead of the shorter path starting with the mapped drive letter. Thanks for the question.

Re: Error 10083: path, file name, or both are too long
The complete file path including spaces and file name is well under the maximum stated. The problem projects are in the same location as the projects that work. I'm not sure what's going on here.

Error 10083: path, file name, or both are too long
When running PDF builds from targets in Flare projects received from localization, I'm getting the 10083 error with the following text:

Although I now have a workaround to add marks using Adobe Acrobat, I still need to know how to remove the marks that were added by Flare.

Re: multiple localized CSSs > single PDF
Marjorie, are you referring to the TOC entry properties dialog box option for "Select Flare Project and Target... (for runtime merging)" as shown in red outline in the screenshot below? I'll have to try that!

Hmm, we may have to rethink our output if Flare does not allow us to use multiple CSSs within the same target.

Re: Renaming global table styles
I'm following this thread with interest. I have a parent "shared" project, two child projects that are specific to a product, and a "build" project to generate multiple-language PDFs. Whenever I change the name of a file or folder, I do the following time-intensive manual process. Eager to hear what ...

Re: change page number between chapter breaks
Looking at my project again, I don't want unique page ranges after all. The whole idea is to create a single PDF containing all languages, with a TOC listing each localized guide title and its page number. So scratch this whole post. I was thinking that the mini-toc and copyright pages should be ...

Re: crop marks break bar code
Thanks, Lisa. The crop marks inserted from the Flare target do not overlap the bar code. In fact, the crop marks are inches away from the bar code. I'm not sure why the Flare-inserted crop marks affect scannability of the bar code.

Re: multiple localized CSSs > single PDF
But I notice that you can add a TOC entry that is a whole Flare project and target. So if each of your translated sources was in a separate project (or perhaps even a separate target in the same project) you could try adding that to the TOC where you wanted the content for that language. Then you ...

Re: change page number between chapter breaks
Thanks, Paul. I tried chapter breaks among descendants of a mini-toc proxy node and it broke the mini-toc. Tech support told me that the mini-toc proxy was intended for a chapter only.

Re: change page number between chapter breaks
Hi Lisa, I can't use the chapter break option because I have a mini-toc proxy that depends on all of the nodes being in the same chapter. Eager to hear additional suggestions!
