crop marks break bar code
Crop marks can be added to PDF output using the following setting in the .fltar file:
PDF Options > Document Properties > Include Crop and Registration Marks
This setting appears to break my bar code so that it doesn't scan. Details below. Am I missing something? If I have to add the crop marks ...

multiple localized CSSs > single PDF
Looking for expertise from anyone who creates multiple-language PDFs.

Re: change page number between chapter breaks
Thanks, Lydia. Can you tell me the steps for using autonumber styles? Is it a different "page number" variable in the page layouts?

Re: change page number between chapter breaks
Thanks, Lisa, but unfortunately, Flare does not allow me to restart page numbering with a page layout break.
The whole section is grayed out unless I choose "Chapter Layout Break."

Re: mc-caption properties from stylesheet
Question: Where does one control the space between the caption and the table? I'm seeing different spacing between the caption and table, which appears to be related to the spacing within the table. Is there a way to control just the spacing between caption and table?

Re: change page number between chapter breaks
I'd love to know the steps for using autonumbers to show different page number ranges within a chapter. Following are details for my project setup.

page-break-before: avoid - not honored.
I set page-break-before to avoid, but it's not honored. Is it because the content is in a table?

Re: localized context-sensitive page references
Hi Jennifer! Thank you for your informative reply. I got it to work on my machine, but the difficulty of packaging the language skins for localization is dissuading me from using {pageref} at all. Instead I will use the "on page n" construction everywhere, with the phrase editable in the CSS file ...

Re: localized context-sensitive page references
I learned that Madcap's provided language skins are difficult or impossible to package in editable format with each Flare project. The language skins are stored on each person's hard drive, at C:\Program Files (x86)\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V10\Flare.app\Resources\LanguageSkins (files have the ...

Thank you, LTinker68! I unchecked the box for downsampling images (target > pdf options) and now the bar code scans.

Re: ChapNum displaying with Heading in Bookmarks/TOC
By the way, have you found a way to show the chapter number and heading in the footer or header of the page layout? I tried inserting the heading-level-1 variable in the page layout, but nothing shows up at all. I think I'm running into the bug identified here: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com ...

localized context-sensitive page references
I use the "context-sensitive page reference" command {pageref} for the xref formats, as defined in the print medium of my CSS file. This command automatically resolves to "on page n" or "on the facing page" or other variation, depending on the relative location of the cross-referenced item.

Re: bar codes don't scan - stretch out?
Thanks for your thorough reply, Jim.
I can follow the same formatting steps in Microsoft Word, print the document, and scan successfully using our company's scanner devoted to these testing purposes.
Why is it hard to produce the same bar code in Flare, I wonder?

Hmm, the skins don't appear to be supported for PDF outputs. Which is strange, because the formats address print requirements. I have a bug logged.

bar codes don't scan - stretch out?
Hi all, have any of you had issues with bar codes that don't scan? Following is the HTML and the CSS used. I would appreciate any pointers!
HTML:
<p class="EndPage" MadCap:conditions="Build.P01765-19"><span class="Barcode">*P01765-19*</span>
CSS:
.Barcode
{
font-family: '3 of 9 Barcode';
}

Re: PDF output page size differs from Flare page layout
If I print at actual size, the text area appears to be the correct size.
I did set the target to include crop marks, but they throw me off, especially combined with the document properties shown by Adobe Acrobat.
