Is there a CSS hack needed to make a bulleted list fit within its table column? All of our tables are set to 95% width by default, and each column is set to auto for width. If other columns in the table are sufficiently wide, then the text in a bulleted list extends past the column margin.

same page number given for every occurrence of reused topic
My outline TOC file (.fltoc) includes a topic more than once. When I build a PDF output, the page number for this reused topic is the same for every occurrence within the table of contents (generated by the TOC proxy).
Example (see red page number):

Installing ABC ... 1

print xrefs: variable still gone after Exclude Action
Have you found a way to show variables in xrefs to excluded topics?

Popup that won't go away
I have a special kind of WebHelp deliverable that is a single page ("start page") - I have had to trim lots of files from the output. I think I might have trimmed one too many because in the software product built with the files, when I click a pop-up link, it shows up as expected but then I can't ...

WebHelp was one of the outputs I tried. The other was PDF.
The only browser I tested in was IE7.

Re: wrapping PRE-tagged paragraphs
Hi Dave, I tried your code in our .css file and generated WebHelp and PDF outputs. No wrapping occurred in either output. (In the WebHelp, I got a scrollbar to view the full code. In the PDF, the code went off the page - there's no way to see the end of the line.)

wrapping PRE-tagged paragraphs
My Flare topic includes paragraphs that are tagged with <pre> to preserve extra spaces and tabbing. However, long lines extend off the page.
How can I get my PRE-tagged paragraphs to wrap?
The excellent ideas posed on the following websites to define PRE in the stylesheet don't appear to work ...

Wow, that's a lot to think about!

manual title in xref format
Okay, this is a long shot. As far as I can tell, the xref format possibilities are constrained to information found in the referenced topic, such as title, first heading, bookmark, and page number. I would like xrefs to be smart enough to go beyond identifying the referenced topic to also ...

Re: tagging code samples for indenting
JRP, I tried out Dave's suggestion and found that if you select the Paste as Inline Text option, the pasted code takes up only one line of the xhmtl in the topic file. However, this method does result in the added markup " xml:space="preserve" " within the <pre> tag.

Re: tagging code samples for indenting
My method for tagging chunks of code with the <pre> tags is to open the topic with Internal Text Editor, type in the <pre> and </pre> tags on new lines, and paste the code inbetween these two lines. In my files, the tags read "<pre>" without any classes or other information inserted by MadCap into ...

tagging code samples for indenting
What is a good practice for setting up stylesheet tags for indenting code samples? What tags should be defined to handle indenting?
(in the example below, the lines "?x" and "?y" are indented)
For example:
PREFIX ABC_ZZ: <http://example.com>
SELECT ?x ?y
WHERE {
?x ABC XYZ
?y ABC ZYX
}

Re: single-topic output, complete with dropDownHead styles...
The size savings from the .chm is actually misleading, I heard from my boss just now. The .chm file is already compressed and thus the 156 KB size does not represent the true "memory footprint" - the .chm file size is really much larger and probably worse than the uncompressed 184 KB size of the ...

Re: single-topic output, complete with dropDownHead styles...
FYI. The HTMLHelp (.chm) output was 156 KB (single file) versus 184 KB (12 files) with the WebHelp output. Not sure about .xaml connection support, and I thought I read that .chm files didn't work on Vista, so we might be stuck with the slightly larger WebHelp output that requires post-processing to ...

Paul, great analysis and suggestion to use Dreamweaver. I would prefer to "keep it all in the family" as we're using Flare as a cheap content management system.

I haven't tried .chm yet - thanks for the idea! I'll give it a shot to see if number of files and output size are reduced that way.
