Re: Flare 4.2 release notes?
Hmmm, when I click that link I get the welcome page for the Knowledge Base at the following URL: http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/default_Le ... adCap-Skin
When I explore Flare > General in the TOC, I don't see 4.2 or GEN1022F listed.
Any ideas?

Flare 4.2 release notes?
Flare is prompting me to download the latest update, version 4.2. Before I do so, I would like to review the release notes. However, I do not find them in the Knowledge Base. If you have seen the Flare 4.2 release notes, please let me know!

Re: internal code names exposed - need flat file structure
Thanks, Kevin! I did log a bug. The reply I received from MadCap indicated that my name was added to a feature request to "force flare into a flat file structure even if you have folders in your content explorer."

Re: internal code names exposed - need flat file structure
Hi Dave,
Regarding folder renaming, my coworker confirmed last week that renaming folders in Flare breaks the (TFS) source control history of the folders. Whether folder contents are also affected I'm not sure, but our team was given the order to rename folders in TFS only.

internal code names exposed - need flat file structure
Hi all, I am in a team of many writers working from one Flare project. We organize our content files by folders, and often those folders use internal code names (especially for new features that don't yet have official names). Here is a bug I logged lamenting the lack of ability to flatten the file ...

Re: single-topic output, complete with dropDownHead styles...
Looking for advice on automating single-topic outputs.
Flare creates output with over 40 files, sized at over 584 KB. I can manually remove unneeded files to get to 12 files, sized at 184 KB. All this for a brief text-only topic!
Any ideas out there to (a) remove the manual deletion steps for ...

Hi Kevin, thanks for your message.
When I questioned if my approach was "wrong," I meant technically. I can remove the TOC and other items but I haven't yet figured out how to lose the toolbar at the top of the WebHelp deliverable. I might just have the developers point to the topic file instead ...

single-topic output, complete with dropDownHead styles...
I customized a skin to remove the TOC, index, and other items from the WebHelp output. My goal is to create a single-topic deliverable, complete with style information for the drop down headings. This output will serve as a "start page" for an application.

Thanks, LTinker. I posted a bug for the extra PDF bookmarks from hyperlinked Flare bookmarks. I also posted a bug for the lack of a way to set PDF settings before PDF generation.

PDF bookmarks pane includes hyperlinked Flare bookmarks
Extra PDF bookmarks result from any Flare bookmark that is the target of a Flare hyperlink; that is, all hyperlinked Flare bookmarks appear in a "Bookmarks" set of links at the end of the PDF Bookmarks pane on the left of the Adobe Reader window.

Re: are tables sortable?
Thanks for the helpful replies, RamonS and LTinker68. RamonS, good luck on your move and do let me know if you find the sample ECMAScript!
It's too bad that Flare can't do the sorting natively. I will submit a feature request.

Do you need an experienced technical writer who knows how to work with Flare? I've worked with Flare from version 2.5 to 4.0 and I fine-tuned our group's procedure for PDF outputs. I've imported (converted) both Word and Framemaker files. I evaluated MadCap's Feedback product, too. You can see my ...

Ahh, I've been using incorrect terminology.
I tried inserting commas in accordance with W3's standards (http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/selector.html#grouping) and it worked!

Kevin, do you know why this instance of a complex selector doesn't work? I think some of my previous complex selectors worked with Flare.
