ratings are consistently reported as a smaller number
Thanks for the reply, Richard. Actually, my boss and I have consistently seen numbers in Feedback Explorer that are (a bit) smaller than our attempted, imprecise \"grabbing of the stars' edges.\" If I didn't know better, I'd have thought MadCap wanted to automatically lower the ratings. ;-)

Want to track a bug? Post it as a reply to this topic! I started this topic today when I remembered that I could not track my bugs through MadCap's website: http://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx

thanks, gwadmin
Yes, you did mention FrameScript earlier. Today I learned what FrameScript is.
I would like the next Flare release to remove my need for FrameScript as I only use FrameMaker to produce (print-quality) PDFs. MadCap's best interest is served by facilitating the PDF generation workflow for us all.

ahhh...$150 separates me from an easy fix!
Thank you, gwadmin...I didn't realize I needed to buy a copy of FrameScript to use the script. Oh well. Maybe we can get buy without this additional expenditure...here's to a much-improved PDF workflow in the upcoming Flare release!

Thanks, rekiwi, I had not seen the posting you mentioned on same-chapter xrefs. I posted a reply here: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 8143#18143
Thanks, gwadmin, for the script! Now I need to figure out how to use it....
I heard that Flare v3 might use Blaze in place of Frame...?

add heading rows to tables in Frame
Thanks, gwadmin! I did not realize that I could add a heading row.
By the way, I'd appreciate a copy of your FrameScript for automatically adding heading rows, if you don't mind.

re: mc-heading-level of 0 makes headings disappear
Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, this bug in the Flare to FrameMaker output process is confirmed by MadCap Tech Support, who is uncertain when/if the bug will be fixed.
For now I have applied p classes instead of h classes to my headings that I don't want on the TOC page. I had to make ...

PDF tricks
Where are you, those who have created PDFs that met expectations? I see we have two now in the poll....
Were you able to go straight to PDF (avoiding doing fixes in the output FrameMaker files first)? Do you have nifty FrameScripts to do your work for you, maybe from the command line? What about ...

I see this problem too, for new xrefs
For new xrefs I create, the heading text is omitted AND the link does not work.
For xrefs imported, the heading text appears and SOMETIMES the link works.
Do you use quotes in your xrefs? Quotes are only in my xrefs if I use the default xref style (no class, no edits to original xref style in ...

re: localizing Flare files
These issues take on additional urgency when sending source files out for localization. I will be sending out source files for Japanese localization soon. How will I be able to ensure that the disappearing quotes appear in Japanese, for instance?
I don't use quotes in my xrefs so I can't help ...

re: framescript for table heading rows
repeated table column headings and "continued" indicators (Flare does repeat the table title, so it seems the logic is there),
The issue is that, when Flare tables come into Frame, the first "heading"-formatted row is just a regular 'body' row in Frame; I wrote a framescript that adds a heading ...

re: index file master page problem
index page use of all footer classes in master page (only uses odd/first right now??),
my Frame template has master pages for each (left/right/first) page type (I'm blanking right now; not sure if that answers the question)
The FrameMaker index file output from Flare only has the right and ...

variables not taking on formatting (okay in .chm),
disappearing borders under headings (okay in .chm),
probably other issues I'm not thinking of right now.
#1 & #2, Frame template. #3, probably Frame template :)
I can see how the Frame template would take care of disappearing borders under ...

mc-heading-level 0 = disappearing headings in Frame
headings with heading-level 0 disappear from output (Tech Support/Dev looking at mc-heading-level 0 - possible bug),
Guess I haven't come across that, so not exactly sure what you mean. Using a Frame template may be a possibility?
The book paradigm demands that we include files in output but ...

re: PDF bookmarks from Flare

re: un-numbered items in numbered lists
strange formatting of indented items within declared lists (looks great in .chm output),

re: td p descendant selector - broken in Frame output
(2 of 2)
td p selector not "taking" - necessitating application of td classes for every table cell (takes in .chm),

Hi gwadmin,
Thank you for the thoughtful replies.
I see a need to clarify some of my questions.
But first, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the inherent fallacy of single-sourcing - you give me food for thought as I continue to venture optimistically (perhaps Pollyanna-like?) into the Flare ...

mc-heading-level of \"0\" makes headings disappear
I'm creating a PDF from Flare 2.5 using imported FrameMaker 7.2 files. I created an h1 class called \"h1.noTOC\" that has an mc-heading-level of \"0\" and applied this class to the \"Table of Contents\" heading in the TOC topic, as well as the front matter topics (\"about this document,\" etc.) so ...

Bottom border disappearing in FrameMaker output
I will chime in here. Yes, I'm also seeing the bottom border disappear from my paragraphs when I output to FrameMaker. I'm troubleshooting now, but I don't feel that comfortable after reading your many posts since Nov/Dec last year with still no resolution! If I find any solution, I'll post it here ...
