Re: TOC automatically from File Tags or Conditional Text

...you need to manually drag and drop for every item...

You can multiselect in the Content Explorer or File List, and drag to the TOC that way, rather than doing each topic individually. In this way, you could add all the topics to the TOC simultaneously, and then rearrange them as desired.

So ...

Re: Related Topics and File Names

Hi, Joanne,

When you say "view" it, do you mean when you open the Related Topics Control inside of Flare? Or do you mean when you've built the output or previewed the topic?

Re: How do you handle hyperlinks in PDF documents?

Is there a better way to show hyperlinks? What are your thoughts?

I'm not sure it's better, but in my PDFs I use underlined links to indicate URLs that will navigate out of the PDF, and links without text-decoration to indicate cross-references within the document. We have a blurb at the ...

Re: Setting Drop-down Text to Open Expanded

Hey, all,

This is not a perfect solution, but in the course of our documentation, we wanted to have a "Before You Begin" dropdown that opened automatically when the page was loaded. I created kind of a clunky script that was able to open a single instance of a specifically-named dropdown. This won ...

Re: Creating Note, Tip, Warning Styles with Images

It's a little more advanced, but you can also use the ::before selector to add images to your notes/hints/tips. We do this in part because most of the icon images we use are actually from a font file (a la the way Font-Awesome does things). Here's a glance at what they look like:

Re: Losing spaces with segmentation

Are you seeing the spacing lost in the actual exported version of the Lingo project? The XML looks correct to the XLIFF specification, and should rebuild the spaces when it's output to a new project.

This reminded me of another issue I'd read--if you check the text editor in Flare, what kind of ...

Re: Combine two TM files?

You mean Import TMX and Export to TMX? On the Resources tab?

TMX files are Translation Memory eXchange (TMX) files from tools such as Trados and memoQ. That's not what I want to do. I want to combine two Lingo translation memories.

That's true, but you can use them to merge two Lingo DBs.

Here ...

Re: Adjust Position of Image that is Inline with Text

I can't quite remember now, but I think that I didn't get the results that I was looking for with the vertical-align attribute, and so resorted to the negative bottom margin.

I think the only issue with using the margin-bottom method is that it's not "respectful" to other elements. For example ...

Re: Landscape image.

Some images I've put together must retain the same aspect ratio for the width and height so I need to avoid stretching the image in one dimension only.

Sorry about that, I think I tucked my not-so-clear warning in the last line of my first post, but should have emphasized it. The aspect ratio ...

Is there some automagical property I can set that will resize the image automatically so that it fits the available width of the page, sans margins? I don't know if it's something I would do to the image or the topic, or something else.

I usually do something like this, applied to the image ...

Re: Update translated Project

I'd recommend either changing the old folder name or making a backup first.

Definitely backup, yeah. =)

I guess I was confused because, in my experience, the update to a Lingo-exported Flare project is inherent, in that you shouldn't have lost any existing translation. I.E., when you update the ...

Re: Change a Paragraph Style to Character Style

What is happening is that if I highlight the [hde] for example and apply the DBT Code Style, the whole line changes to red. This was all working OK.

I can't say for sure, but it sounds to me like you're expecting to apply a class (i.e. style) to a span, and instead the class is getting applied to ...

Re: Possible to apply a class to a class?

What I'm finding in Flare is that I can apply the italic style to one of the bold words but it loses its bolding...I need it to retain that.

Definitely sounds like something is weird. In the case of a class, italics (or, style) and bold (or, weight) aren't even applied using the same property ...

Re: Adjust Position of Image that is Inline with Text

If you haven't tried it already, you can also create a class that would assign a vertical-align property to the image, which may help. Nita's definitely works, this is just utilizing the CSS property that exists for just this sort of issue. Here's a JSfiddle demonstrating what each vertical-align ...

Sorry about that -- was writing mine while you submitted yours!

We ran into that exact issue at work.

There's a couple workarounds that were tried:
1) p.indent style that uses margin-left to force the paragraph to match the item indentation.
2) li.clean style that, as you described, removes the ...

It might be worth checking how you've defined colors for the a element in the project, too (here's a jsfiddle demonstrating some of the issues that can arise based on the way you've defined colors: https://jsfiddle.net/MattyQ/8yfgk6qz/1/ ).
