"Solved" my problem by using conditional text. First reference is normal; subsequent references to the same thing are "real" for WebOnly output, but fake for PrintOnly output.
Requires manual management, but does the trick... in my case, anyway.

Hi,
Just a tip to y'all if you are having the issue I was having: Paragraphs formatted with the p.note style would overlap (or rather: underlap!) the sideContent menu in my TopNav output:

The text wrapped, but the note box did not.

In response to the original post.
I have implemented a solution, in which I

Re: Year Variable
Sure you can. Open the variable set, and click button no. 2 in the local toolbar. This is called "Add Date/Time variable".
Give it a name such as CurrentYear, and enter the following in the Definition field:
yyyy
Flare shows a preview of the result at you type.

Re: Printing from web
Thanks, Dave, that's a great idea! I added
nav, .button-group-container-left {
display: none !important;
}
-to prevent the menu, search bar and the row of buttons from printing, while I was at it.
So my only remaining problem is the thumbnail graphics, which I've logged at MadCap.

Hi,
So you're saying that it is possible to configure the PDF generation to use another medium than Print? That sounds interesting. How do I do that?
EDIT: I found the place, obvious enough, never thought I could use that. But I will, thanks for the pointer.

Re: What's up with my menu skin?
Hi,
Not sure about this. When you say menu skin, you are talking about the Side Menu - yes?
And linking the menu proxy to the correct menu - you mean you have linked to the correct TOC? Try setting it to Default.
And it sounds like there's a hardcoded path to Resources somewhere.

For those who add an index to the html5 help (top navigation or otherwise), I've written a small script that adds an index letter bar at the top of the index page - you could call it an "index header proxy".

Re: Tip: Styling conditions in HTML5 help
Like!
I might add that you can style the conditions as a whole in the style sheet editor so they are for instance yellow in the XML Editor, but this does not make it through to the html5 output.
Thanks for this solution.
