Re: Duplicate footnote numbers per page - revisited

"Solved" my problem by using conditional text. First reference is normal; subsequent references to the same thing are "real" for WebOnly output, but fake for PrintOnly output.
Requires manual management, but does the trick... in my case, anyway.

I certainly need it, primarily to get rid of a pageful of repreated footnotes in PDF.

Have submitted feature request.

Simple solution to annoying problem

Hi,
Just a tip to y'all if you are having the issue I was having: Paragraphs formatted with the p.note style would overlap (or rather: underlap!) the sideContent menu in my TopNav output:
Underlapping.png
The text wrapped, but the note box did not.
To solve this, I simply added the following ...

Re: Is Javascript executed when pubilshing to PDF?

In response to the original post.
I have implemented a solution, in which I

Enter equations directly using LaTex, but enclosed in \( )\ for inline and \[ ]\ for paragraph equations - e.g. \( {A}_{delta} = {A}_{new} - {A}_{executed} \)
For Web, MathJax typesets this online, on-the-fly (no wait ...

Re: Year Variable

Sure you can. Open the variable set, and click button no. 2 in the local toolbar. This is called "Add Date/Time variable".
Give it a name such as CurrentYear, and enter the following in the Definition field:
yyyy
Flare shows a preview of the result at you type.
You can choose if you want the year ...

Re: Printing from web

Thanks, Dave, that's a great idea! I added
nav, .button-group-container-left {
display: none !important;
}

-to prevent the menu, search bar and the row of buttons from printing, while I was at it.

So my only remaining problem is the thumbnail graphics, which I've logged at MadCap.

Yeah, I just renamed the

section in the stylesheet to

Code: Select all

@media pdf
and associated that with the pdf target.
Brillant, H1 issue solved. Thanks!

Hi,

So you're saying that it is possible to configure the PDF generation to use another medium than Print? That sounds interesting. How do I do that?

Printing from web

Hi,
Using Flare 11 html5 Top Navigation.
When I want to print a page from the online help, and press Ctrl+P or the Print icon, then the print engine uses the print media specification. That means that the print will look more or less like the PDF.
HOWEVER, there are some shortcomings:
I use ...

Re: What's up with my menu skin?

Hi,

Not sure about this. When you say menu skin, you are talking about the Side Menu - yes?
And linking the menu proxy to the correct menu - you mean you have linked to the correct TOC? Try setting it to Default.

And it sounds like there's a hardcoded path to Resources somewhere.

Not much help ...

@Nita:
I create a topic called Indexfile.htm (file name doesn't matter of course). It is not part of the TOC, even though it could be, but it should be marked with a Web Only condition.
In the topic, I:
Add the heading ("Index").
Add an output index proxy.
And then I add the script at the end.

Link to index letters

Hi,
For those who add an index to the html5 help (top navigation or otherwise), I've written a small script that adds an index letter bar at the top of the index page - you could call it an "index header proxy".

Re: Tip: Styling conditions in HTML5 help

Like! :D
I might add that you can style the conditions as a whole in the style sheet editor so they are for instance yellow in the XML Editor, but this does not make it through to the html5 output.
Thanks for this solution.

Isn't it a bit unnecessary to use a script to insert a toolbar button?

Hi Nita,
You were exactly right. I needed to create another layout file. And that's great, really, because that lets me apply columns to a whole section of the manual (such as a gloassary), and just specify First on the first page. It will then pick Left and Right from the same, "columned" file ...

var filename = path.substring(path.lastIndexOf("Content/"));
var imgurl = (filename.split("/").length - 1) == 2 ? "../Resources/Images/Footer ...
