Hi, I'm using Flare 2018 R3 on Windows 10 to produce PDFs.
I want to create a footer in a page layout (.flpgl) doc that has a variable for the doc title on the left, and the page number variable on the right for right pages, and the other way around for left pages.
After much experimentation I ...

I did try those settings, but the borders still intermittently appear, depending on the zoom level. It's not a show stopper so I'll just put it down to a quirk of how Acrobat Pro DC and Flare output play (it's not an issue with PDFs from FrameMaker). I'll set notifications = on for this ...

Unpredictable/unwanted borders around images in online PDFs
I'm using Flare 12 to produce a 500 page doc full of worked examples of our software. There are lots of images in it (PNGs), and some have plain white backgounds. I don't want borders around any PNG, and have set img style to be solid 0px transparent. And the style p.image. This is for Medium=print ...

IE11 shows PDF file name in tab, not PDF doc title
As per the topic title, Internet Explorer 11 shows the PDF file name in tab that's showing PDFs opened from my HTML5 help. In Chrome and Firefox the tab shows the PDF doc title, which looks a lot neater and is more user friendly. E.g. IE11 will have 'user_guide.pdf' instead of 'User Guide v1.2' (or ...

Show a topic page without a sidebar menu? HTML5 Top Nav

Re: Can I add a graphic to HTML5 Top Navigation top menu?
You could have your logo link to the homepage (I believe it should do so by default). I'm not aware of a way to add an icon to the top menu, but I did add a home icon to the toolbar. It looks like this: Home Page Link.png

Can I add a graphic to HTML5 Top Navigation top menu?
I'm outputting help with the Top Navigation skin. The ToC I've mapped the top menu to is all text links. Is there a way to embed an icon in there. I want to add a home icon that links to the home page of the help, but I want to retain the company logo in the top left though, which is why I don't ...

Re: Migrating from HTMLHelp (CHM) to HTML5/Top-Nav CSH
I know it's not exactly the same as your requirement, but I've migrated several help files that were delivered as CHMs/WebHelp authored in RoboHelp, to CHMs/WebHelp in Flare. I used Flare's File > New Project > RoboHelp Project function.

that was exactly that, h3 and h4 mc heading levels were set to 0

Re: In tables, applying italic makes text look superscript
We've noticed this too and I have been meaning to file a bug. The superscript appearance also occurs if you apply a condition tag to a span of text within a table.
I get the same result. If I replace:

Re: In tables, applying italic makes text look superscript
I am always loath to use inline styling. In your instance I would create a <span> with style of italic and apply it to the text. CSS cascades down and your inline <i> tag overrides any other styling in headers and stylesheets.

In tables, applying italic makes text look superscript
I'm using Flare 12 to output to HTML4 and PDF/print.
If I have text in a table and apply a character tag such as <I> for italic, then the italicised text seems to almost be superscript in the PDF. It's ok in html5 though.
I presume the <I> is not inheriting formatting such as cell padding from ...

I've found Flare better than Framemaker for web targets or when one has a mix of online and print outputs. For PDF output, Framemaker has worked better for me.

FrameMaker -> Flare <-> Word
We have about 40 worked examples/tutorials in FrameMaker 13 format. We deliver them to customers as PDFs.
However, our SMEs don't use FrameMaker, and always ask for Word copies to edit. If they write a new tutorial then they write it in Word.
Tech docs then have to batter them into FrameMaker format ...

Re: Adding breadcrumbs to pages not in main ToC
You can't have breadcrumbs from different TOCs - the breadcrumbs only show what's in the target's Master TOC .
If you want to have separate navigation in these pages (that's not part of the target's TOC), then perhaps add them to a separate TOC, and add a menu proxy on these pages that's linked to ...

I'm using Flare 12, with the HTML5 Top Navigation target.

Re: Changed h1 tag properties when Medium=print is ignored
The solution to my problem (thanks to MadCap support's help) was because my h1s in my topics were effectively h2's in the PDF. This is because the level is being set by where they are in the Target=PDF ToC for PDF output. So I just had to go into the stylesheet editor and edit the fonts ...
