A quick recoverey, especially those small items that are quick and (percived to be) easy, would bolster confidence in the Flare community.
I agree. Unfortunately, if I recall correctly, I think the only "update" that has been released was one that allows you to bring your Flare 8 projects into ...

Re: Flare 8 Niggles
OK, I'm somewhat relieved to hear that I'm not the only one feeling this way.
I also still love Flare, but I just wish they had spent more time in the testing/debugging phase before releasing it to the customers. It feels like we're doing that for them right now. I also hope that this is not a "new ...

Re: Flare 8 Niggles
Is it just me or does anyone else feel like Flare 8 was released before it was ready? Previous versions (Flare 7 and earlier) seemed to be pretty solid (granted, they had some bugs, but we did not find the number we're seeing in this version).
Based on the number of bugs that we're finding in Flare ...

Landscape viewer
I would like to display the Webhelp Mobile viewer in landscape mode, so I can see how the content will look in landscape format. Is there a way to do that?

Re: Sharing version 5 and 6 files
Thanks very much for the reply. We are not using any built-in source control. We are using just CHM, PDF, and Webhelp targets, variables, and conditionals.

Sharing version 5 and 6 files
We have a consultant coming in to work on some project for a few months. The PC he will use has the latest version 5 software. The rest of us are on version 6. What trouble, if any, will we get into by sharing projects between the two versions? Note that we are not using any of the new version 6 ...

Re: Graphics
In my company, we are still hanging onto FrameMaker for production of our hardware manuals. Why? Because 95% of the graphics in our hardware manuals are vectored line drawings, which come from our 3D modeling software and go into Illustrator. The Illustrator output (PDF or EPS) imports directly into ...

Re: X-Edit setup could be improved for reviewers
I would like to see X-Edit work on an entire project versus a single topic.
In other words, I would like to dump a Flare project out to a shared (network) drive and then send an email to my reviewers that points to the project file. Then they can navigate and review all the topics in that project ...

Re: Making WebHelp load faster?
I have gone back and regen'd my projects in v4.2. Unfortunately, that version does not have the Previous/Next buttons on the Webhelp toolbar. However, I felt that missing those was not as bad as an incredibly slow load time. Hopefully, they'll get v5 fixed SOON!

Re: Making WebHelp load faster?
I am also noticing the same "slow" load times that other users are complaining about in the above posts. We have several Webhelp projects that were previously deployed from Robohelp. We've converted these over to Flare 5.0 and the Webhelp load time has gone from ~5 seconds to ~40 seconds. That said ...

Re: How to disable external links in PDF output
Thanks for the response.
That would be a good idea if there were just a few topics. However, the manuals are very large, so this method would be hard to implement.
I know that Flare can track the external links during a build. Therefore, I think they could easily add an option to "Disable External ...

How to disable external links in PDF output
I have four Flare projects with extensive linking between each in the Webhelp output. I'm now trying to generate PDFs of each for users who want printable versions. However, I would like to "disable" the hyperlinks that are external (outside of the current document) for the PDF version and retain ...

Formatting of Programming Code Examples
We are currently running trials with Flare 2.5 versus Frame/ePPro. We have quite a few projects that were developed in various veriosn of RoboHelp. Many of the software topics include programming code samples. These were formatted using the <pre></pre> tags in RoboHelp. Where indents were needed ...
