I can see a lot of uses for ePub output in our company.
However, I cannot set the generated TOC to exclude the h2 and h3 headings. I created a TOC that contains h1 level headings only but the ePub TOC displays all headings from every topic. It doesn't seem to matter how I set options.
Any ideas?

Re: Sorting TOC into alphabetical order
I've asked for this as well. I have a large TOC and being able to sort (or, more accurately, save) the alphabetical order would have saved me a lot of time. I can't figure out any way to do it.

Re: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
I have seen this too, with HTML5 target generation. It's identical to a problem I was having with the mobile help target last year. I'm surprised it's not fixed yet because it was filed as a bug (report number 45261).

Re: What's the single biggest Flare project you've had to manage
I agree with wbrisett
I'm a bit biased, but I think the biggest bottleneck is the memory. As long as the version of .net stays where it is, Flare is stuck being a 32-bit application and can only use 2 GB of RAM. That simply isn't enough for some of the mega projects folks here (myself included ...

Re: Can you expose MCWebHelpFramesetLink?
Thanks for the quick responses.
Lisa: Yes, I thought about that too but, although I'm not too familiar with Map IDs, it's probably not viable in the short term (this project is about 5000 topics). Might be a better solution in the long run.
Dave: Thank you so much for that link!

Can you expose MCWebHelpFramesetLink?
This is a bit hard to explain, but here goes.
I'm generating WebHelp and want to be able to link to individual topics, but still display the navigation pane on the left. Currently, the URL displays only something like this, no matter where you click in the TOC:
http://web.com/html/ProjectName ...

Re: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
I'm just now getting back to this topic after we decided not to use mobile output for our last release. Madcap Support quickly traced it to empty style property. (I can safely say I never would have figured it out.)

Re: Help window opens at half the specified size
UPDATE: I recompiled my batch targets this morning after Madcap Support contacted me about the bug submission. Of course, everything now works as it should: my window retains the set size and the unwanted tabs (e.g., Glossary/Index) are no longer appearing.

Re: Help window opens at half the specified size
I'm just noticing this now also. When I compile HTML help as part of a batch compile, the window is tiny and appears in the opposite corner of the screen.
Edit: The batch compile also ignores other preferences, like buttons.

Re: Links update but cross-references do not?
Open the topic in the Text editor and located the X-Ref. Does it still point to the old topic or the newly renamed one?
Thanks for your reply. I should have clarified: it wasn't the link text I expected to change, it was the underlying reference. For example, I renamed a topic from "Configuring ...

Links update but cross-references do not?
I renamed a lot of files in the content explorer. For each renamed file, I clicked the "Update Links" button in the link update dialog.
When I regenerated the project, hyperlinks were resolved to the new filenames but the cross-references were not. These are all internal links.

Re: System out of memory exception error popup.
I'm getting this error popup too, but didn't get it until Flare 7.
Looks like I need to split my TOC. The entire TOC will still show in printed output, correct? I don't want to split the TOC and then find out it doesn't work (this is a 1000 page PDF, covering ~2600 topics).

I realize this post is older but wanted to add a note here.
This error seems to be a catch-all with no troubleshooting hints whatsoever. I have had to contact Madcap Support almost every time. And I agree: why can't Flare give you the option of keeping the output after generating most of it?!

Re: System out of memory exception error popup.
It's worth a try. I've tried multiple TOCs for one output and it works quite well. You can create many TOCs and one main one, and then just drag a TOC into the main one at the right place - and to the final output it looks like just one TOC. For what it's worth, I like this method when I have ...

Yes, it was actually, which was much better. And easier! Still not ideal but at least there is a workaround.

Re: Does anyone use X-Edit as part of workflow/review process?
Thanks, Laura, for the feedback. I'd love to get away from Word (mainly because my projects are too big for Flare to comfortably output to Word), but it seems like X-Edit is not there yet. Too bad.

Re: System out of memory exception error popup.
Thought I would post Madcap support's response in case anyone else has a similar issue. Unfortunately I have never read about any limitations to the number of topics that Flare can process, but it seems that there is such a thing as too many topics. I ported this from FrameMaker to Flare, so I'm not ...

Does anyone use X-Edit as part of workflow/review process?
I love the idea of X-Edit as a review tool, but it still seems somewhat unreliable. I wonder if the lack of activity in this part of the forum means that people are not using this feature?

Hmm, the DotNetHelp is not returning keyword results either. Do you know if there is a particular Flare file that developers need to point to inside our product to get both search and keyword results to display?

Including keywords in search results (not index)
I need to include my keywords in the search results; i.e., I want the search to recognize keywords as search terms, not index terms. Does anyone know if there's a way to do this? The Flare help files seem to indicate these two features are autonomous but some other posts seem to indicate they are ...
