Re: TOC Link Question

Thanks. I know that my request is a little confusing.

The webserver sits in, what my IT folks describe as, the "DMZ" on our in-house network.

I can publish to one location and anyone connected to the in-house network can access the website using a machine_name/folder and anyone external (only ...

TOC Link Question

Please excuse the lengthy description to follow:

I am responsible for managing multiple Flare projects.

My webserver is named "docpub".

Locally, the server directory for "docpub" is C:\inetpub\flare

On my Flare development machine I have mapped a drive letter (X:) to the machine ("docpub" which ...

Applying style to a "block" of content

Using Flare to manage a master set of requirements.

Over time, these requirements change.

Would like to be able to produce a printed set of the requirements that contains all "current" and "historical" content.

Still somewhat of a novice at CSS so before spending a ton of time trying something ...

Printed output generation question

Hi,

Working on getting autonumber to work with h1, h2, and h3 when printing authored topics but not printing for "generated" topics.

I have changed h1, h2, and h3 in my "print" medium to have autonumbering
h1 is set to CH:{n+} -
h2 is set to CH:{n}.{n+} -
h3 is set to CH:{n}.{n}.{n+} -

I ...

Re: Tutorial for auto-numbering

Nita - Thanks for the assistance.

What I meant by "I would like other previous h1 items not to have a prefix", is basically - I would like to have some h1 items in my document that should not have autonumbering. The one that poses the biggest challenge for me is if I include a TOC proxy, that ...

Tutorial for auto-numbering

Hi,

Still relatively new to Flare - extremely new to PDF/Word publishing.

I was wondering if there is a good Flare tutorial for teaching how to use the auto-numbering feature.

I would like to have my:
h1 items prefixed with "1 - " (omit the ") incremented, but I would like other previous h1 items ...

Re: TOC Hyperlink

Thanks for all the suggestions. It appears that it was the "Clear Cache".

I thought that I had the code in place to suppress caching on this "site".

Working as all have indicated.

Appreciate your time and patience.

Re: TOC Hyperlink

I open the TOC item properties, select the "Select Topic" radio button, paste the URL (e.g. http://www.google.com), and then publish my site.

When I select the TOC entry that has the URL link, nothing happens.

Don't know what else to say. I can't seem to make this work as claimed.

Re: TOC Hyperlink

FYI - I contacted Madcap Support. Their response was -
there is not currently a way to link directly from a TOC entry to an external link. The TOC entry must be linked to a topic and then can have a link externally.

Re: TOC Hyperlink

I created a new TOC Item, opened its properties, inserted http://www.google.com in the link and published the TOC to my website.

When I open the TOC and click on the topic with that link, nothing happens.

I'm obviously missing something.

TIA

TOC Hyperlink

Hi,

My customer has asked if a TOC item could directly link to a URL rather than embedding the link in a topic.

Is this possible in Flare?

Automatically Applying Changes to Tables

Re: Topic content searchable but not visible

Dave Lee - I'll give the div.hide suggestion a try.

doc_guy - I want the original PDF document to be the "topic", so the "messy" content would be hidden in the topic, and a link to the original PDF would be in that same topic.

Topic content searchable but not visible

Hi,

Is there a way to create a topic which hides some of the content (or makes it invisible), but still makes that content searchable?

The reason I ask is:

We have many PDF documents that were created via a scan process.
We then take these documents and make them searchable (generate a Word ...

Novice - Can I create an image style

Hi,

I am still learning all the features / capabilities in Flare and am starting to switch to learning and applying CSS.

I am wondering how to apply the same fundamental style to an image.

For example, I have several images in a topic and I would like to apply the same style to all of the images ...

Hi,

I've caused myself some issues with sending files / topics to another user for review, and while those files / topics are out for review, I've made changes to some of the files.

This action causes some conflicts, which I would like to avoid.

Does anyone have a recommended procedure that they ...

Re: Capture - Project Condition tags

Ability to use conditions on an image in Capture, on a computer that does not have the Flare application and project that the image will belong to, is NOT possible.

Madcap Support confirmed this for me.

Capture - Project Condition tags

The Capture documentation indicates that the user can link to the Flare project to use the project's Conditional Tags.

My "contributors" and "capturers" don't have Flare installed, so the project is not present on their machine.

Is there a way for the "capturer" to get the conditional tag ...

Re: Import Word Pictures rotated

It's difficult to determine where the rotation is occurring.

Looking at the images in Word for Mac, the images look fine in the document, as well as in the Apple finder / preview option, i.e. not rotated.

I don't have Word installed on the PC where I have Flare installed, but when I open the file ...

I have a document that contains picture images.

After importing the word document into my project, all the pictures were rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise.

Any idea why and is there an easy fix?
