Re: View Help while using application
Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do in Flare to fix that. Your devs will have to look into the code and see how your program calls/processes the help file. I think it should be a fairly easy fix, but I can't say that with 100% certainty since I'm not a dev.

If you aren't seeing any properties in Advanced view, make sure that the Show option in the top toolbar is set to Show: All Properties.

Re: Controlling Breadcrumb items
As far as I know, mc-breadcrumbs-count is the only way to control the number of items displayed. Is there any reason why you wouldn't want to decrease that number?

Re: Border on an HTML 5 Top Nav Header
I can't find nav.tab-bar in any file. Inspecting the output reveals nav.title-bar, but I can't see how I can access that either.
I'm using 2017 R2 with the sticky header option.

Re: Highlight last used TOC menu item
TOC synchronization will highlight the *current* topic's entry in the TOC. To give users a quick way to go back to the prior topic visited, they can use the browser's Back button. Not sure there's anything more complex that's possible. (I've actually put Back and Forward buttons on the topic ...

Thank you Lisa,

Morning all.
I have a global stylesheet that is imported into all my projects, that includes a good few generic styles. As expected, these appear at the top of the Styles window.

Re: Border on an HTML 5 Top Nav Header
Hi Liv! You can use the stylesheet to add a border to the bottom of the header. Here's my code:
If you're using 2017 R2, the exact style name might have changed. But you should be able to figure it out with the dev tools in your browser.
Code: Select all
nav.tab-bar
{
border-bottom: solid 5px #A9A9A9;
}

Hmmm. Well, a search brought up this old thread... might be worth looking at: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=27282Michael Cohen wrote:No we have not upgraded to R2.
Maybe someone else has a better idea. I've not had any issues with my TOCs or proxies in the 2017 release.

Re: Search submit button appearing above search bar
Thought I'd pitch in an idea - This happened to me when I changed the font size of the TopNav Search Input without also changing the font size of the HomeSearchBar Search Input. It appears that those values must be the same, even though they are not directly linked.

Re: Anyone know button name for the hamburger button
In the skin, select the Tablet or Mobile medium. The item you are looking for is called the Navigation Slide Out Button. I don't think you can change the hamburger color in Flare because it is an icon, but you could certainly edit the icon or replace it with your own.

Re: Page breaks in TOC in PDF
Try removing the page-break-avoid attribute on your TOC1 and TOC2 styles. I've found that if the entire TOC doesn't fit on one page, this attribute causes more page break issues than it solves (in the TOC anyway - it's very useful elsewhere).

Re: HTML5 Offline
According to the comparison grids in MadCap Help, F1 Help is only in DotNet. Is there a different API or something for the HTML5? Or do the devs just have to implement something about "When F1 is pushed and the cursor is in XX location, open this topic"?
As far as I know, it's just something our ...

We also have offline HTML5 help with CSH links. Users can press F1 or click the question mark in the corner to launch the help topic in their default browser. I agree with Nita - I don't think F1 is obsolete; it's just one method of delivering CSH. Personally, I always press F1 for help first. I ...

Re: Style issues title variable in header
Does this only occur in the header? Not in the rest of the document? The space between letters is called kerning. I've only see it happen in Flare due to a conflict with high resolution screens, and for me it's always the whole document. It seems to happen at random, but I've noticed that it occurs ...

Ohh that's interesting! Glad you figured it out. How did you apply the image? Did you set it as the page background, or add it inside a frame? I add my images via the page properties > background image setting, which seems to work fine.

Re: Page Layouts Not Displaying Properly in PDF Output
Hmm, that is odd. Out of curiosity, does the title page (in the first topic) use the same page layout? And do you have any "empty left" pages in your page layouts?
Another thought - do you use page-break attributes for any of your headings? If so, is there any correlation with the watermarks?
