what are your system specs?
Are you in a Active Directory?
Its hard to work with just the results if you do not know the things that are resulting to this output

The Exception your getting is sadly something I am not getting (yet) but I do know that error from my own developing.

Anyone else getting access violation exceptions every time you open a project in Flare 4.1?

Re: How to merge Master and Slave projects that share one TOC
and this guide tells you how to circumvent it ;)
Basically this is how the master works:
Slave.chm::/_temp.hhc
Slave2.chm::/_temp.hhc
So we make a copy of our master TOC thats in the output folder of flare. And call it slave and move that into the Slave.hhp project
We tell him his "default ...

Re: How to make Flare compile faster
It honestly sounds like there is something on the other computer thats bogging it down.
Usually when a computer shows compile times like this I tend to think the following:
1. A process is running on your PC thats demanding I/O
2. The computer has a dying hard disk
Hard disks that are slowly ...

Re: How to merge Master and Slave projects that share one TOC
the idea behind my method (guess i am not clear on what i am doing here!) is to have the Slave have a merged TOC aswell. so instead of opening Master.CHM all the time you can open slave.CHM and see the otjher CHM files aswell. A big problem however is that it will see everything double if you merge ...

I just tried the option you suggested but the slave retains its original TOC. So when i opened SLAVE.toc i dont see the other slaves/master CHM files. You sure this is what its supposed to do?

How to merge Master and Slave projects that share one TOC
A big problem I noticed with people who have basically HLP files is that they are accustomed to the fact that HLP files merge the TOCS and Index files. as you can guess HTMLHELP has a limitation in that since. But there is a workaround for it. I have to warn you though, it has a LOt of manual work ...

Re: hyperlinking between .chm projects
you need to do the following:
RBRSADM.chm::/introduction/hello.htm
Basically what you do is the following:
NAME.CHM::/folder location in flare if you are not sure how flare stores it then you need to take a look at your output folder in flare -> Username -> Temporary -> Name of target -> Content ...

Re: HTML Compiler Stops Working
Generally the problem with HtmlHelp stems from a few things:
1. You are using Filenames that are too long
2, you have links that have long names (see 1)
3. Bad HTML coding inside a topic.
4. The Index is too large (over 200 KB)
Take a look if you ahve a long file name :) does flare fire warnings ...

I think the problem he is trying to list is that when you change the name of your conditional build tag it loses its connection with the conditions you made with the original name.

Try updating your .NEt framework to 3.5 , if its only focused on your machine its probably related to that. Do you have anything running on your PC that is active while you are working on flare that your collegeus are not using?

Re: ERROR: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
Sadly the way programming goes nowadays is that a lot of things are taken out of your hands. Flare is built ontop of .NET and requires it to be installed before it can function. Java has the exact same problem, being able to grab errors and identify them is very hard. I know that our C++ program ...

Ramons,
As someone who programs in C# and Java I can tell you its INCREDIBLY hard to catch every single error Flare can barf out. Basically to catch errors a programmer has to do one of the following (there are a lot more options ofcourse!):
Try

Read Object X
Do Y
Save to file

Re: ERROR: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
The Error you are receiving is a .NET error. Generally it means that something in flare is referincing to a object that does not exist. I occasionally get this error when I edit my TOC outside of Flare while flare is open and make a few mistakes. The best thing to do is run analyser and see if you ...

The jest behind Multithreading is basically that you try to split up your program in such a way that multiple parts of your program are split up into their own entities that can run on their own without interfering with the other "threads" you are making. In games generally they tend to split games ...

.NET itself DOES support multithreading. The problem is you need to make sure that your application is written in such a way that it can support multithreading. I already made a guide in the general section on how to improve your speed. Everything flare does is very hard disk intensive, when you use ...
