I'm having an issue I can't find in the forums. I know others have had issues with resolution of images in Word output, but I'm having issues with disappearing images in Word output.

Lisa, I'd recommend opening up your Word Import stylesheet in Notepad. Copy and paste another "map to" format and insert the new styles you want with and list the Word style you want them mapped from. Save and close and then those should show up in your Word Import screen in Flare.

It sounds as if all your topics are going to be available in one output (the knowledge base) and various topics will be combined to form a bunch of pdfs. I'd be leaning towards the first option.
