Re: Aligning Search bar in Tripane skin
Thanks for getting back to me! I had finally realized that I wasn't able to control the placement of the Search box because I was using the Tripane skin. Now I'm working with starting from a Side Navigation skin. But your information is very helpful.

Aligning Search bar in Tripane skin
In my HTML5 help project, I want to set the template so that the Search bar shows either at the left or middle of the navigation bar. On p. 855, the Flare Styles Guide shows an "Alignment" option for the Search bar. My project, however, does not show that alignment option at all. Can anyone tell me ...

How to create two-part document?
I want to combine a user guide and admin guide into one document, because so many users also have admin privileges. I want the two parts (user guide and admin guide) to be separate within the one document. What is the best way to do this?

Cannot build Word target
I posted back in July about this issue, and it still has not been solved. My product includes 4 Flare projects (documents). I publish both online and PDF targets, and use Word targets for my reviewers. Last summer, out of nowhere, 2 of the projects stopped publishing Word targets. The failure occurs ...

Re: Word target won't build: 10086 error
Well, I think I solved this myself. So, for anyone who has a similar problem, here is the answer I found.
The error message for the build gave a path name in the Output > Name > Temporary folder to the main XML file that was produced. You open that XML file and save it to a .DOCX Word file. The ...

Re: Link to zip file from PDF output does not work
jjw, where do you put your mydoc.doc file, and what is your link to it? I put the zip files in the subfolder under "Content" where I have all my topic files; the link is just the zip file name. Should I be putting the zip files somewhere else?

Link to zip file from PDF output does not work
I am trying to link to a zip file that exists within my Flare project, from a PDF output. In the project, I create a link to the zip file, but when I view the PDF output and click the link, it says "Could not open the file." Does anyone know why this is happening?

How to number rows in table automatically?
Can anyone tell me how to number rows in a table automatically? I want to put a number in the first column of each row, starting with "1" and then autonumbering each row to the end of the table. Re: Documentation review process using Confluence
Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, I forgot to mention that in some cases "reviewers" (who are developers) are actually writing content and adding screen shots. So I think it works better for us to use Word docs.

Documentation review process using Confluence

Get error 10086 when trying to build Word target
I am using MadCap Flare 2017 r3. When I try to build my project to a Word target, I get the following error: "10086: Build failed: startindex cannot be larger than length of string. Parameter name: startindex." The output file name that it shows is very long-- C:\Users\myname\Documents\foldername ...

I'm sorry--can you be more specific? I select the row and then go to which menu and submenu at the top? If I go to Style under Home, I do see th and td, but when I select th it doesn't get formatted as specified in my Tables stylesheet.

Change table body row to table header row?
Is there an easy way to change a table body row to a table header row in Flare 2017? I imported a Word file without automatically designating the first row as the header row, and now I have a lot of table rows to convert. FYI, I am using a custom table style.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Page numbers appearing in online Xrefs
I have set up my project to print as a PDF and to produce HTML5 output. Most of my links are cross-references, using Madcap:xref. In the PDF output the link appears with a page number, as it should. Unfortunately, in the online output the link appears with a page number as well (always "1"). This ...

PDF shows H1s, then bookmarks, in left pane
This is a variation of another post. I am creating both online and PDF output for my project. Previously, when I created the PDF output, the H1s and all their subheadings showed up in the printed TOC. Now, only the H1s appear, and the left-hand pane shows a list of only H1s, then a long list of ...

Re: PDF output shows only H1s in TOC
Thanks for the response, but the heading levels in the stylesheet are already designated with the correct mc-heading-levels. And a few days ago when I generated PDF output, the TOC did show the subheadings properly--suddenly it stopped, and I don't know why.
Also, I've noticed that the subheadings ...

PDF output shows only H1s in TOC
I want to show all Heading levels in the TOC for my PDF. In the Target Editor, under the "Advanced" tab, I select "Use TOC depth for heading levels" and generate. In the PDF output, however, the TOC shows only the H1s. Any suggestions?
