Dear Insane,
we are slowly going mad. When we decided to move from MS Word to MadCap Flare about two years ago, we were confident to solve a lot of issues. I must admit that I still prefer Flare to MS Word these days. However, frustration is growing. Too many trivial use case scenarios keep failing ...

Re: Auto column width heuristic and local resolutions
Autowidth is not the only issue. Why can't we really fix width, either? I have a lot of tables, where I'd be happy to apply a fixed width as a workaround. But in print, it just does not want to listen to our commands...

Re: Page break mania in lists with images
Thanks SchokoMuffin for any advice.
Both "rules/statements" do not apply. Check my explanation in a previous reply: I only introduced the strange construction of single lists with continued numbering to avoid the issue which this topic is all about. I can also confirm that the issue applies to all ...

Thanks Nita,
any wild guess is appreciated these days in a Mad World...
No, I don't think it is involved. Even if it was, I would feel like a character in a horror movie because I would not know who ever presssed this button for me

Thanks for all advice so far and sorry for my frustration. The "div group" that we use was exactly designed as suggested for that purpose:

page-break-inside: avoid;

What is the great mystery behind the simple functionality "Insert Annotation"?
When I read the online documentation carefully, it should be very simple to use. There is no complex workflow described e.g. that I need to activate any special edit mode else beforehand. I don't see any further notes ...

Re: Page break mania in lists with images
div group was suggested by https://www.helpdesign.eu/
originally to keep captions together with images
Even if I am not a maximus, I doubt by experience that you can set an optimal configuration via CSS.
Whatever the reason is, the only true print rendering system I can witness so far is LaTex.

I introduced something like "avoid" in list items. But the consequence was inacceptable due to some list items which took too much space on a page.

I guess that this should also work with the side navigation but we don't have a master page. So is there an equivalent place where else to put this kind of script?
I don't see where else to set a static browser tab title in the skin settings.

keyboard accessibility: Side Navigation Menu Item *(focus)*?
To fulfill accessibility requirements in HTML5 output we need to highlight a menu item, when a user browses through the side navigation by the tab key. In the Side Navigation Skin you can specify a " Search Result Link ( focus ) " style which achieves what we need for search results but there is no ...

Good to know that this was helpful.
Just one more note: This works well with left-alignment but in case of justified style other issues arise

Top nav menu - responsive behavior - delay hamburger
Mainly having experience with print output so far, we now start experimenting with HTML5. I am struggling with some basic behavior in a very simple layout, that I would have expected to be very trivial to solve:

Subtle layout changes independent from CSS in PDF
We use MadCap Flare 2018 R1 and create PDF print output where the layout all of a sudden has slightly changed and we cannot see the reason why. We have not upgraded MadCap Flare and neither have we changed our single master stylesheet during the time period in that this layout change occurred:

Re: Multiple version management: am I missing something?
Cross-references could pose an issue in theory and we get many compiler warnings, however, in practice in a generated PDF for us they still work as desired, although we do not have any clue why.
