Re: Multiple product lines on a single Docs Portal
I have a portal for several linked products: a project for the portal itself, plus several projects that are linked from the portal for different products and user groups. I make extensive use of global project linking across all the various projects too. This was as a result of inheriting one site ...

Re: How to reduce spacing between footnotes?
Could you edit the footnotes on Word first and associate them with a style? This could be mapped during import so that it was formatted as something other than <p>. Then you could either use a specific paragraph style that's correctly formatted to close up the footnote paragraphs, or identify the ...

Hi Mike,
Sadly, not using Flare's own functionality, no. (But there may well be solutions that the ever-knowledgeable folk on the forum have come up with.)
Hosting your content on Central enables a login for an entire site, but not individual pages.

What an absolute godsend this forum is!
Yes, I now have the problem as I update sites using Fl2022, both topnav and sidenav. But thanks to psider I can put in a fix

Re: HTML5 Side Nav output - no Side Nav
I have a sidenav-based site (not knowledgebase tho') I need to test with 2022 Flare. I'll have a look this evening on my home Linux box. I can check both a Central-hosted version and a local copy.
Note: I was going to do this at some point soon anyway

Re: Preview Window has no Download button
The first example with the buttons looks like a PDF preview.
The second example is as, you say for HTML output, and there are no buttons. I've never seen Flare display the Preview window for HTML differently to this.

Word Import: Tables losing their borders (and a workaround)
I use a fairly simple table stylesheet in my HTML5 projects: header row with a different background colour, single-point solid line around the table and for column/row divisions, rounded corners. Periodically, I import Word documents (authored by other folk) which contain tables, almost always two ...

Just in case anyone else encounters a similar situation...

Re: Dealing with "not" in MadCap search
But "cannot" at the beginning of a search works OK. So there's a workaround, but the problem then is educating users as to all the quirks (and the different issue as to whether we should or whether the search should work more intuitively).

Hi Nita, Dave,
@Nita, yes, the dropdown has vanished from the GUI (presumably just me, tho'!
).
@Dave, thanks for the tip for setting it elsewhere. It's precisely what I need right now.

Flare 2021 r2
The eLearning additions are mostly looking good.
However, I've spotted a couple of interesting gotchas:

Re: Default Project when using Vanity URL
And I don't suppose there's any indication if/when this will be fixed. Yet again today, I have an email in my inbox from a colleague in a customer support role, struggling to remember the URL to our documentation portal AND THEN struggling because it's case sensitive.

Re: Project Size in Central Doubling
Hi there!
I have noticed odd behaviours in the storage and usage data. Other than keeping an eye on it, I'm not worrying as it's only hitting 1/10 of my current storage allowance.
But, one thing that occurred to me was, do you have multiple builds stored for your targets? If you build on Central ...

I've had it happen once, but I can't remember what the error was. I think I simply changed tack and built and published from Flare instead. (I find this quicker: Central's servers seem to grind awful slow).

This is still an issue.
Interestingly, whilst until recently if you went to https://help.madcapsoftware.com/ you got an error, but this now redirects to https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare20 ... n/Home.htm.
Why this can't be an option for us, I dunno!

Re: A Styled Variables Gotcha
We haven't yet upgraded to 2020r2; where this got us was with the automatic builds on Central, which evidently has been upgraded. Fortunately we can still build locally and push our published output to Central.

If you've not already seen it, you might want to take a quick look at this issue: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=32846
It looks like you've hit the same bug. (And you can at least open the project's default.htm as a workaround, maybe.)

They're highly specific, too: variables is OK and doesn't interfere, and .Variable.
I'm now wondering if this actually at all useful. Would it ever be helpful to see in a published output just how much of it is variables?

A Styled Variables Gotcha
I've upgraded to 2020r2 and, whilst I imminently intend to, I haven't yet done anything with styled variables. But, before I've had a chance to do it myself, all my variables have styled themselves!
Every variable, previously unstyled, has been italicized.
