Having some trouble with snippets this morning. Two issues so far:
1. I can see my snippet in the Resources/Snippets folder, but it's not available on the insert dialog. When I try drag and drop from Content Explorer, it gets inserted as a cross reference instead of a snippet.
2. Different snippet ...

Re: CSS newb - style I just added not listed
I added it right below another style that does display in the list. And it's above the line in the style sheet that says all styles below this line are for a specific medium. When I select a different medium in the style sheet editor, I see it in the list for each medium.

CSS newb - style I just added not listed
Complete CSS newb here. Added a style to my style sheet. Actually copied it from another sheet and made a small change. It's not showing up in the list of styles I can choose form in Flare. It's a div style and there are two other div style in the list that I CAN see. I copied one of those and ...

Re: Architecture of a Flare Skin?
@ArdisRamey I think I'm trying to do the same thing you are. Or very similar. Using HTML5 top nav, I want a menu proxy equivalent to the top nav on the left, the topic body content in the middle, and a mini TOC of the topic headings on the right. The Flare online help is configured exactly this way ...

Re: CSH Clarification
Ok so I think I misunderstood what you meant in a previous reply by "But it still halved the work overall, since the developer didn't have to hard-code thousands of identifiers in the app." I thought that meant dev didn't have to code the page help calls, and that the existing page identifier would ...

Re: CSH Clarification
I already have a list of page names in the app (around 300 unique identifiers) from Engineering. And I created a header and alias file with those page names in Flare. In the alias file, I mapped each page name to a help topic, as shown in the partial example below. In this example, how does the app ...

Re: CSH Clarification
So, in the scenario above, where we, the authors, use developer-provided unique identifiers, and map help topics to those, does the developer just need to drop in the header file and then configure the context-sensitive help button to call whatever help topic is mapped to the current page? Talking ...

Re: Need help understanding how builds and domains work
Oops forgot I had another question. Does anyone have a "making the case for removing IT ops from publishing" argument :) I have a feeling that will be a battle to fight here. Publishing anything directly to our servers may not be a popular suggestion. Currently I publishing to a staging area on the ...

Re: Need help understanding how builds and domains work
Thank you for both of your replies. I already have a license so cost is not an issue at the moment. But it will be a factor in deciding whether to formally adopt the product for content ops and renew maintenance next year.

Need help understanding how builds and domains work
So I have committed to using Central for my new help project. Definitely interested in the source control and project management tools. On the fence about the build tools. Some things I need to understand to make that decision are: 1) If we use Central to publish, can we publish to our existing ...

Re: Master page inheritance and target master pages...hmmm
Thanks both. Yes I have been clearing the build folders, and no I didn't know about the style class master page connection. I checked the style sheet and there are 3 style classes that reference legacy master pages, but those master pages no longer exist and I don't see any topics set to those style ...

Master page inheritance and target master pages...hmmm
My struggle with master pages continues. I've set a master page at the target level, but topics that are set to the Default master page are still being built by that target with the wrong master page. I've even tried deleting all but one master page from the project, and the Default master page ...

Re: Where is default master page explained in Flare help?
RESOLVED. I contacted MadCap customer service and was told that the default master page (if you don't select one in target settings) will be the first one alphabetically in your master page list in Content Explorer. Project Properties only has a master page layout setting, not master page, and as we ...

Re: FIXED! Urgent help needed for output formatting issue
Appreciate the tips and moral support :) Deleting all but the one style sheet then checking the build report for warnings was really the light bulb. But I had many other issues with the project before that. The better news is that I finally get to dump this ancient snake pit and start fresh. Going ...

Re: Where is default master page explained in Flare help?
Somehow I missed this last reply. But digging in to master pages again today, I don't see a project-level master page. Page layout yes, master page no. At least not in project properties. I believe that's why target default still wasn't clear.

Re: Urgent help needed for output formatting issue
That fixed it! Table styles still messed up but I can fix that manually for now. So the final resolution was to open the master pages in the text editor and fix that erroneous stylesheet reference. After that I also did a project-level find and replace in source code to make sure there were no other ...

Re: Urgent help needed for output formatting issue
Well hang on. I just checked the build report and see it's throwing warnings about a missing stylesheet, and among others it's' referencing both my master pages. I don't see anywhere in topic properties to set the stylesheet for master pages, so I checked the XML and it does call out the old/now ...

Re: Urgent help needed for output formatting issue
Ok I deleted all but my main stylesheet and have tried setting it as the project, target, and topic default, and specifying it also at each of those levels. Same result! What on earth could it be? My stylesheet looks fine to me, and the topic looks fine in the Flare editor and preview. Surely it's ...

Re: Urgent help needed for output formatting issue
Sorry, yes, HTML5. Seems to occur for all browsers and targets I've tried. Looking in the file list Stylesheet column, it's blank, which I assume is because I've set a target-level stylesheet. I've clicked through a bunch of topic properties, including the master page, and they all show the correct ...

FIXED! Urgent help needed for output formatting issue
Hello. I've been troubleshooting this issue for weeks and now it's publish day for a major release. Could really use some help. When I preview topics they look fine. When I publish the font is wrong (Times Roman instead of Arial), and the the snippet that I have on the master page shows as text only ...

Re: Where is default master page explained in Flare help?
Thanks all. So I think the short answer is, the topic master page "default" is whatever is set as master page in the target. But nowhere do I find this explained in the Flare documentation. In the target/master page content I would expect to see something like "this is the default master page for ...

Resources folder not getting built
The Content/Resources folder should get built and published, right? Mine seems to have stopped, and my output is now missing style and snippets among other things. I've checked and the Resources folder and items in it are not conditionally tagged so I don't see why it's being excluded from the build ...

Where is default master page explained in Flare help?
Hi. Can anyone point me to where in the Flare documentation it explains what the default master page refers to in topic properties? Thanks!
