Search Tip (HTML 5 target) default text location?
I've a client who wants to specify the contents of the Search tips... and I cannot seem to find in the Flare docs anything which shows me *where* that default value is stored... anyone?

Re: Flare 2017: xref text and .svg images not working
I had issues with SVG in Flare 2017 r2 for a bit but in my case it was OS related - once my station was replaced w/ a Win 10 machine, the issues were alleviated.

Re: Fuzzy screenshots in PDF output from Word import
For myself, I've set a policy in which when my contributors or SME's are generating content, though they are free to place the images into a Word file (or RTF or PDF or whatever format they choose) for inline context, they must provide source images in a folder on an accessible network share for ...

Re: Page Layout and Styles for more than one PDF output
Ok - I know this may seem like a silly question, but I remember this frustrating the living daylights out of me when I was first learning about page layouts... not that long ago.
So - you've noticed I'm sure that in each Page Layout file, there are thumbnails and layouts for multiple page types ...

Re: Fuzzy screenshots in PDF output from Word import
OK, so I've just tested to make sure I'm not full of hooey here: when you screencap something, the method by which you screencap it directly impacts the resolution with which the image is saved. This data is stored within its metadata: looks like sceencaps are typically 96 ppi on windows 10.

Re: Auto Size HTML5 Movie When Played
In the code chunk shown above by LookingForHelp, the assumption (I believe) was that you would be looking at your topic in the text editor, and versus using the Flare Multimedia ribbon button, you would insert this code chunk, replacing the file string (coloured red here below) with your specific ...

Re: Capability for variable sections?
Also worth pointing out that with topic-based authoring and multiple TOCs (which in Flare are used to control content inclusion, not just report it) you can have multiple ways of tying your dataset together: in other words it doesn't *have* to be all controlled via conditions or tags - that is one ...

Re: Page Layout and Styles for more than one PDF output
I've been doing this same thing for our individual audience types: I create specific Page Layout sets for each PDF output / audience type, and then create an individual TOC for each. There is then a specific Target for each PDF audience type, each of which respectively calls the relevant Page Layout ...

Re: Fuzzy screenshots in PDF output from Word import
Sounds like an explicitly-set DPI in the actual placed images - if so, maybe a CSS fix would be best, rather than checking all images inline.

Re: HTML 5 top nav toolbar icons cannot be svg?
We've been trying to use an approach outlined by the great and powerful Oz to switch out header logo from png to svg to address this topic-toolbar issue in the top-nav HTML 5 output, but we're still seeing some troubles - anyone have any more "legitimate" MadCap ideas for achieving this goal?

On Win 7 seems like Ghostscript is required for SVG parsing for Flare - Win 10 not so much.

Info: SVG support issues may be OS based
Letting folks know that I've just determined that the fiddly SVG support under Flare 13 we had experienced (in which there were failed load svgs that appeared to match Flare's spec for supported svgs) was most likely due to OS interaction - since I last looked at this issue, we've migrated me to a ...

We'd love to have scale independent svg icons for the topic toolbar icons in HTML 5 top-nav - but the skins editor doesn't seem to allow for that possibility - anyone find a way to get this to work?

form-linked button pulling data from HTML page title?
Hi folks - I just got an interesting request for a mnior addition to the help sys I'm building here, and it sounds wonderfully logical and simple in concept, but I'm not sure how I'd approach it within Flare, or if this represents something best done outside Flare post-publishing... so I thought I'd ...

Soooo... checking back in on this topic: I had had a suggestion from the very helpful Michal Skowron via slack to use snippet conditions and tables nested into another snippet, and so I tried this approach out, fairly extensively.

conditional control of colours in decoration frames?
I've a situation where our client's expectation is for coloured page edges in both printed output and online output which will change based on target audience, as will the actual in-topic content.
The content part is clearly manageable through condition tags - my query to the community is whether I ...

If the images used are pngs, surely setting the opacity of the requisite layer of the watermark text in the originating app in which the png was created to 50% would get you what you need?

Nita,
Many thanks - you were spot on: I had failed to be sure that when looking at the style sheet I was viewing the correct medium, and exactly as you predicted, the H1 heading has the page-break-before inherited from the application stylesheet showing the value "always".
That would indeed be ...

Re: N00b question: H1 causes pagination @ PDF: change this?
Thank you for your reply, Rene.
The issue I'm struggling with isn't in fact with TOC depth, or TOC auto-generate vs manual, but rather that I cannot find where I can prevent the behaviour in which each H1 or H2 forces a new page to be started in the PDF output: these occur in one topic, and should ...

N00b question: H1 causes pagination @ PDF: change this?
Hello - total Flare n00b here:
I have an early dev document tester I've been working on - got everything the way we want, except that whenever I use an H1 or H2 heading, it's as though the CSS is set to say page break before - even though it's not.
That is, the PDF displays a new page for each ...
