Re: I need help with project template styles

Related to styles in the Soledad template, when I build my project, the tiles on the home page stack one on top of the other instead of sit side-by-side. I copied the following files and added them to my current project (therefore, I am not building on the Soledad template, but using aspects of it ...

Forgive the ignorance, but couldn't you just never check them in in the first place after you create them?

What do you mean by movie? A Slideshow object in Flare is not a movie.

Try this link: https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare20 ... eshows.htm

Have you tried the SlideShow object? Sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

Re: Bright blue font in links

EOM, You're probably seeing a default value from Flare's default styles or from the browser user agent stylesheet. Just create the entry in your project CSS:

Code: Select all

a:link{color:red}
Obviously change red to your desired colour/hex/rgb value.

Re: Conditional text as a selective inclusion

I can't exactly grasp what you're trying to do, but it's important to bear in mind the mechanics of conditional text.

If you (for example) apply a conditional tag to your <body> element and exclude it, then nothing inside the body element will be included, even if you specifically check the include ...

Re: alternating background colors not working

You may use multiple tbody elements in a table as long as they are consecutive.

I resorted to using them as I wanted to alternate the background-color of rows that contained a mixture of merged cells and single cells.

Re: alternating background colors not working

You need to make sure you've wrapped the relevant rows in <tbody> tags, as this won't be done by default

Re: alternating background colors not working

It can add a little more work when putting a table together, but using

Code: Select all

tbody:nth-child(odd)
and

Code: Select all

tbody:nth-child(even)
will reliably alternate your shading. It worked for me in PDF the last time I tried it :)

Re: Crash when Pasting Image

Hi spw24,

Welcome to the Forums! It's great to see you figured this problem out, thanks for providing a solution and reporting it to MadCap. It can be frustrating when people don't answer your threads - It's not a case of being ignored, people just generally don't post in a thread if they can't ...

Re: alternating background colors not working

I had this problem and I really dislike using tablestyles in Flare, so I opted to use <tbody> tags to group my rows and used css to change the background of each alternate tbody. This worked perfectly in both outputs.

You could perhaps count the elements on the page with jQuery .length and hide the menu with JavaScript if there are subheadings present?

Re: Stopping body proxy content from showing behind fixed fo

I've had a look at some of my previous sidenav work, I wanted the footer to occupy 100% of the body, but none of the sidenav. To do this I basically forced the body to be 100% width of the container MadCap puts it in:

body {
margin: 0 !important;
padding: 0 !important
}

Then made sure that the ...

Re: Stopping body proxy content from showing behind fixed fo

You're most welcome, Dan :)

@Choccie, the first thing to do is build an output that should be working and use the browser DevTools to inspect what's going on (I prefer Chrome for this but any browser should have these tools)

In Chrome (for example) right click in your footer and click 'Inspect' to ...

Re: Stopping body proxy content from showing behind fixed fo

Hey, don't give up!

You'll want to put the <div id=footer-padder></div> between the <MadCap:bodyProxy/> and the <table id="footer">

You don't need to define anything in the stylesheet.

Put the jQuery code I supplied in its own file such as footer.js and put that in the Content/Resources/Scripts ...

Re: Stopping body proxy content from showing behind fixed fo

I had similar problems with this, basically because I was putting a footer inside the <body> as I suspect you're doing. Moving it outside the <body> in the masterpage will cause you other problems. My workaround was a little hacky but reliable, you could give it a try.

Inbetween your body proxy and ...

You should be able to use the style inspector in Flare to see what it's inheriting and from where. Also you misspelled 'hyphens' :)

Re: Search results and focus to hit in topic

The first search result on a page should be formatted as so:

Code: Select all

<span class="SearchHighlight SearchHighlight1">*MATCHING SEARCH TERM*</span>
Knowing this, you should be able to use some jQuery to scroll the browser to this element.

To add a comment in Central, you need to select a letter/word/phrase/paragraph, etc., and then click the sharpie icon (the third icon from the left).

I believe the question is about adding comments outside of the actual content, which I agree I would expect too...

Regardless, welcome to the ...

If it doesn't match the Variable in the Target, then check the Snippet Variables for the affected Topic. (Assuming the Variable itself is contained in a Snippet included into a Topic).

Re: Publish failed: The parameter is incorrect. (code 550)

550 is an FTP error for no permissions, not a MadCap error. You've likely specified the wrong username and/or password. Remember that publish destinations will delete the stored password if you edit the target path, so put the password in as a last step.

Re: Width of Search Results Page

This is determined by the skin, the same as all other HTML5 outputs (assuming you don't use a style to override it). Can you inspect the page and see what style the width is being inherited from?
