Re: Add Custom Headers and Footers
Just write them as html in the masterpage, as long as your bodyProxy is in the right place, it'll all work!

Can you show us some examples? You may have better results with the following:
Code: Select all
<li>text</li>
<pre>code in a box</pre>
<li style="list-style-type: none;">follow-up text</li>

Re: Random Blank Page in PDF Output
It may be worth checking you don't have page-break-before: always set on whatever element heads up page 7.

If you change to Print Layout and Print medium in the XML editor and use the style inspector, this would probably tell you where it's inheriting its style from.

Re: Breadcrumbs and searchbar visibility
I'm not sure where the mobile media type comes from, I've never used it and I can't find it defined anywhere. You'll need to use media queries based on screen size for this, replace your @media mobile { with
@media only screen
and (min-device-width: 320px)
and (max-device-width: 480px ...

Re: Hide body background in XML editor?
I guess in the <head> of your document you could temporarily put <style>body { background-image: none; }</style> ?
You'd need to remove this at build time though, but you may be able to tag it out in the target so you could leave it in place in the topic.

Also worth looking into Contributor, designed pretty much for this situation. You can set up a template in that so they don't need to worry about styles and everything will import straight into Flare.

Re: Topic-level condition tags not hiding information
Is there any particular reason you've structured your TOC in this way? Remember it's only the target that excludes or explicitly includes conditionally tagged items, tagging them in the TOC is just applying another level of conditional tagging. The solution is a separate target for each version of ...

I wouldn't suggest setting it on td, instead try something like pre-wrap.
I've not used these much before, so a little guesswork is going on here...

Re: 1 topic, different Masterpage for each output?
Can I ask what you're trying to achieve? I don't believe its possible to associate a different master page to each topic at target level. You can do it from the topic properties, but I don't think this is what you're asking.

This is a slightly similar solution to this post however with this solution you can edit the attributes of the watermark and not just the text.

Re: How to assign Ctrl-F to activate search field?
Where X is the div ID of the search field. I don't believe Flare sets an ID on this field so you'd likely have to do it manually somewhere.
You could use this instead:
$(".search-field").focus();
(Instead of: document.getElementById("X").focus(); )
I'm so shabby with JS, thanks!

Hi all,
I've seen a few threads around adding watermarks easily to PDFs so I thought I'd share what I put together the other day. This is a watermark that you can enable/disable via conditional text and when enabled, you can change the caption, colour, font-size (whatever you like really) via ...

Likely something such as;
window.addEventListener("keydown",function (e) {
if (e.keyCode === 114 || (e.ctrlKey && e.keyCode === 70)) {
document.getElementById("X").focus();
}
})

Can you show an example of this? I've just tested with a topic called Test.htm with a few junk paragraphs under an h1 "This is a topic title".
I dragged it in to a TOC and the title applied was "This is a topic title" and in the properties I had [%=System.LinkedTitle%].

Doing anything like moving/deleting/renaming files outside of Flare will definitely break the file mappings, flare handles the files that are bound to source control in it's own workspace and performs many subtle checkins in the background when necessary. I'd forget the project you have in source ...

Re: One topic with condition tags, or two topics with snippe
I personally prefer to utilise snippets as opposed to inline <MadCap:conditionalText>, it's more granular and makes it easier to reuse in the future. I actually tend to use inline conditional text more in things like PageLayouts for formatting purposes, such as a title page with a version number ...
