Re: Page break for every H1

I set the "page-break-before: always;" for an H1 style, but get not only a page break, but a blank page before every H1.

Why is that?

Honestly it could be many things. I'd suggest looking at any setting you might have at target level to inject empty pages (Advanced tab) and any settings at TOC ...

Re: Page break for every H1

You can use a CSS rule:

Code: Select all

h1
{
	page-break-before: always;
}

Re: Variable wraps in a header frame

Seems like an obvious question, but how wide is the header frame? If it's clearly wide enough for the variable, then is there any other content in the frame, or is the variable in another container such as a div with a fixed width?

A GitHub tool can diagnose issues with Flare?
No I meant paste your code into a gist so we can read it, but it seems you've fixed the problem?

You can explicitly set the skin you want a topic to open in from the TOC. Right click on the entry > Properties > Advanced > Open in Skin

You should probably share the markup (code) and any CSS rules you have if you want people to diagnose the issue :)

Are your SMEs making any changes? I notice that Flare will insert span tags when it finds a need to for example when applying formatting or conditional text to text strings inside an element.

Re: code snippet copy function inserts hidden characters

If you don't mind using a post-build event and a script, there's a fix I posted here: viewtopic.php?t=34751

Please read the whole thread as the first post has some debug code left in by mistake (forums won't let me edit).

IMPORTANT I left some debug code in the above example. I can't edit the post because these Forums are awful, I apologise, use the revised code below for the PS script, all other steps are the same:

Post-build task to strip whitespace characters from code snippets

As the title suggests, this PowerShell script will search for whitespace in code snippets and remove them.

Specifically, it looks for <code> blocks inside <div class="codeSnippetBody"> blocks and removes any instances of &#160; or &nbsp;

Disclaimers:

This is combination of my remedial PS ...

Re: Authentication without SSO

You can only configure one SSO tenant through Central, which would 99.9% of the time be your organisation. This allows people to automatically be provisioned as viewers when they access Central and it's the only real way to protect your documentation due to the nature of Flare's output and how HTTP ...

I have played around with it and it's alright . It seems to do odd things with the Print CSS compared to PDF outputs but I haven't had much time to dig deeper. I did notice that inline images i.e. icons in text are not positioned well in the final output. I would have much preferred a release ...

Fix for CSS has() or is() selector

This is a simple post build task that will fix Flare replacing commas in certain CSS selectors with Unicode, breaking the CSS.

Re: Best practices for managing hyperlinks in shared topics?

Long answer short, any hyperlink management between GPL projects requires some manual intervention and a good understanding of how the output is generated, so apply caution when deciding to pursue this route.

Re: Having a problem outputting to MS Word in Flare v2028

I think you will need to first be specific in your question :)

If you can include screenshots perhaps of your page layout and then output generated it might be more useful, but generally for issues like this it is better to ask MadCap official support and send your project files to them.

ElasticSearch with Flare has lengthy prerequisites that make it unsuitable for your use case.
