This tip I wrote a few years ago is still relevant and is a pretty robust PDF watermark method: viewtopic.php?t=30056

Re: Insert image act strange in own created folder structure

This looks like you are mapping images as External Resources, which you don't need to do unless they are collaborative files stored on some network mapped drive or similar. Just drag the image into your actual Flare Resources/Images folder and it should never go anywhere, unless you use source ...

Re: Images not appearing in PDF

The only time this has sometimes happened to me is if I've forgotten to put a class on the image or resize it and it has a large native size. Sometimes it'll be in my output cropped but sometimes it doesn't appear at all, this isn't 100% replicable however.

Re: Search icon on skin header

Yes this is possible, you will have to assign an ID to your icon and use some jQuery.

The following code should be put in (or called from) any template page that should have the "hidden" search bar:

$(document).ready(function() {
$('#SEARCH_BAR').appendTo('#SEARCH_POPUP');
$('#SEARCH_ICON ...

Re: SSO for MadCap Flare generated output

This is definitely an out of scope question for these forums, but MadCap Central does allow SSO authentication, the only problem is it only allows one IDP to be connected, which typically would be your organisation.

This is a big gap in Central functionality in my view, but that's a different ...

Re: Surrogate Pair 0xD83D - HTML5 Build Fails

A cursory google search suggests this error may be due to an invalid space in an xml tag i.e. <tag > instead of <tag>, but this is just best guess.

Also, is the TOC at topic level or template page level?

Re: Controlling background image size

I found this thread while looking for a solution to a problem that's similar to the one in this thread. My problem was that the PDF output was repeating a background icon twice. Not more than twice, though.

I tried replacing the background properties that were specified individually with the ...

Re: Custom List-Indentation Issue

It's a little bit more than you asked for, but I dug around and this stackoverflow answer offers a solution, albeit it utilises a grid display for the list and you need to change the alignment from right to left:

ol {
display: grid;
grid-template-columns: min-content auto;
}

li {

Re: Can you use MadCap Variables in the ConditionTagExpression?

Yeah you can't do this. I can see how it would be useful and I have been frustrated by ConditionalText many times over the years. There is even a paid third-party solution designed for bulk creation of targets based on different conditional expressions: https://www.tbro.dk/

I do wish the advanced ...

Curious if you discovered any other commands that work? Specifically things like running imports or some of Flare's built-in reports?

Thanks!

Re: Why does Flare refuse RSA keys from ssh-keygen and PuTTYgen?

Do you have Git for Windows installed? There seems to be a variety of problems with Flare's own Git implementation. If you go to File > Options > Source Control Flare will tell you if you have a Git for Windows installation it can use or give you a link to install it. You can pretty much keep all ...

Ah apologies, I thought perhaps that you were a bit further ahead in editing PageLayouts.

Add a Decoration Frame to your PageLayout, and click it, press F2 and click No.
You'll then see a window open up to edit the Frame contents with a paragraph block in by default.
Type something unique in ...

Re: Images as variable in page layout?

You can do this with variables, just note that you won't see any images rendered at all in the PageLayout until you build the output.

Just use something like this:
<img src="../path/to/barcodes/[%=Barcodes.BarcodeType%]">

Then create a VariableSet called Barcodes with a variable BarcodeType set ...

If you drag the TOC over your "main" Flare window, you should see some layout buttons appear.

Drag the TOC onto the folder icon and it'll dock as a tab in that window.

Do you use source control? If so you could create a User condition tag set and add it to your .gitignore so each author can maintain their own version of the set, which could then be used in meta tags.
