Re: List of figures displays differently in HTML5 vs PDF
I am having the same problem. The list of elements generated in the HTML5 output does not include the auto-generated item number even though the auto-generated number appears in the actual page. The number does appear in the list of items generated in the PDF output but not in the HTML5 output ...

Validating Flare for intended use - medical devices
I work for a medical device company where I use Flare to write instructions for use, service manuals, operator's manuals, training guides, etc. The FDA expects us to validate Flare for its intended use. Any thoughts on how I should go about that type of software validation? I got some tips from a ...

Thanks ChoccieMuffin for the detailed explanation. It's very helpful.

I suppose one answer is to use the git diff command.

Date Modified values in File List when branching
Up to now, I have been relying on the “Date Modified” values in Flare's File List to determine what source files have changed between say version A and version B of a document.

Re: Linking to a PDF image
I ended up taking a screen capture of my high-res PDF file, saving the screen capture as a PNG, and inserting the PNG image into my Flare topic. A weird thing to do but it worked.

Linking to a PDF image
When I insert an image link to a PDF file, Flare appends #1 to the extension and the HTML output is much lower resolution than the original PDF file.

Export Flare reports to CSV
Is there a way to export a Flare report to CSV? For instance, I've created a report that lists all the images in my project and gives me which files the images are linked from. I can view the report in a browser but I need a tabular format. I know how to export "canned" Flared reports to CSV but not ...

Width of Search Results Page

Re: Auto-size to fit text truncates words
Thanks Tom - You are right. MadCap confirmed it is a bug... They suggested adding spaces at the end as a workaround. I could also try your hack. However, my feeling is that if I have to do something like that, the translators will also need to tweak the text so I may as well disable auto-size and ...

Auto-size to fit text truncates words

One TOC per page size? - PDF output
I need to create two PDF files from my Flare project: one where page size is A4 and the other one where page size is “Letter”. Does this mean that I need two separate TOCs, one associated with the A4 page layout files and the other associated with the Letter page layout files? Is there a way of ...

Re: Distributing HTML5 help for offline use
Reviving this old thread. I have Flare content that will be used offline on a Samsung tablet. Is there a way to display the HTML5 output correctly? Do I need a special app? The attached file is how the default.htm page of the out-of-the-box "Slideshow" project appears... Thanks. Isabelle

Re: V10 Slideshow: Customize Back / Next icons?
I was able to change the back/next icons by modifying the stylesheet as suggested. Thank you.
How would I change the vertical position of the back/next arrows (I would like them at the top instead of centered). Thanks. Isabelle

Re: Best practices – traceability – HTML output
Thank you for confirming I'm on the right track. I had not thought of using a prefix for the project - good idea. And I will link all the variables together with hyphens to make it easier for the technician to cut and paste from the website into the service report. Thanks!

Re: Creating warning statements
Thanks Nita - Exactly what I needed to know. A follow-up question if I may. My initial idea was to create five separate warning.htm files, one for each document, each .htm file having its own subset of warning snippets. Just to confirm: is having five separate files better than creating a single ...
