Well, I gave up. I pretty much did what TechOnTheBrain did.
But first, let me just say that MadCap has NEVER gotten integrated source control working correctly or (nearly) bug free. I had the same type of frustrating issues using Flare for a different company nearly a decade ago. It's pretty damn ...

Re: How do I conditionalize a background image?
Yeah, you can't put a span in the attributes as that wouldn't be valid xml.
Thought experiment: mc-conditions in the style attribute?
Like this. I'm not sure it will work, but it is a valid entry for MC CSS files, so worth a try.

Re: Publish failed: too many redirects or authentication rep
No. In fact, my whole connection to GitHub and the workflow that once worked seems to have become completely discombobulated. MadCap wants a "call," but I was out for the holidays, then in release crunch, so my ability to get their direct intervention has been postponed.

How do I conditionalize a background image?
I have a page layout where I want to conditionalize all the images. I was able to successfully do so for the images in the header and footer, but not for the image that I used for the page background.

Build failed: The filename, directory name, or volume label
I'm getting a "Build failed: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect" error when I try to build a DITA target. A Google search on this message returns no useful or relevant results. Anyone know what might be causing this?

How about that. I just started getting this message today, only I'm bound to GitHub, which is what we use, not Central, which we saw no reason to pay extra for.

Re: Publish failed: too many redirects or authentication rep
Hmmm...looks like this may have something to do with 2FA (two-factor authorization), which is pretty much standard procedure these days, especially for corporate and development apps.
According to MadCap support, "Two Factor Authenication is currently not supported in Flare."

Re: I Want to limit search results to specific Target/TOC
MadCap support tracked down what it looks like the issue was.
In my early testing, I wanted to see what the process would be so that users could have context-sensitive help. I auto-generated alias and header files some time back.

Those instructions just have an outdated CDN. If you go to FA's website you can get the correct reference for the version of FA you need. It's no longer a script, but a reference to a css file. I have it working in my Flare project just fine with no special instructions.

Re: I Want to limit search results to specific Target/TOC
Flare support itself claims that only topics linked to in a TOC would be included. I have a project where I know that to not be a fact, and I told them so.

This works, but I seem to have found a bug. (What's new?)
I created 2 snippets, ProductNameLong and ProductNameShort. In each, I inserted the appropriate variable. In my content, I added the snippet where I wanted a different value that then value used in the target.

Well, I don't know your project, but from what you said, it sounded like the references to product names are fixed - i.e. when you have a reference to Product2, then isn't that reference is always going to be to Product2?

Re: Use two different definitions of a variable in one topic
- Make separate product-specific variable definitions, which kind of defeats the purpose of variables (and makes the variable list longer).

Use two different definitions of a variable in one topic
I have come across a situation that I cannot figure out how to easily solve.
In my project, which I use to develop content for (now) 3 products, I use a variable set. Several variables define variations on product names. In the targets for each product, I select the correct variable values.

Has anyone had issues with Mojave?
Apple is bugging me to update Mac OS to Mojave.
I'm using a 2017 MBP with Parallels, Windows 10, and Flare. My project uses GitHub for source control. Does anyone have a similar setup, and if so, have yo updated to Mojave and encountered any issues with using Flare?
