Re: Document title in side navigation skin
My local community college (CCSF) recently started offering a class on Javascript libraries. Once I finish the XML & JSON class I'm taking this semester, I plan to take Javascript next spring (to refresh my knowledge, plus gaps, and learn what's new with the language), and the take the libraries ...

Re: Document title in side navigation skin
Awesome. Thanks Dave, that worked perfectly. And now that I've done it, I'm not sure I want it because the content experience now is that users will almost never see the topic name in the tab because tabs aren't rendered long enough for the content they contain. I may go back.

More info: I found this: https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2018/Content/Flare/CSH/Providing-Developer-with-Header-File.htm
This confuses me more than enlightens me. Apparently, Flare outputs header file types for C/C++, Visual Basic(!), Java, and Delphi Pascal(!!!). Nothing seems appropriate for ...

CSH: What am I missing
I'm trying to build a demo for our developers. I created a basic web page to show off various ways that (HTML5) help can be called, intending to recommend Javascript. But the two instances I have, one does not work at all, and one opens the help system, but does not go to the identified topic.

Re: Document title in side navigation skin
But wait! There's more!
Turns out that meta tag is what was putting that line of text at the top, above the heading. I commented it out and it disappeared.
I also realized that I didn't need jQuery to do what I wanted. So it tried this:

Re: Document title in side navigation skin
I had shrunk the height of the header, giving it just 10px of padding at the top and bottom. (I'm, a big proponent of minimizing eye candy and maximizing screen real estate for content.) After I wrote my last post, I went ahead and added this class to my CSS:
.helpheader

Re: What causes this FrameMaker target error?
I went looking in the latest knowledge base ( https://kb.madcapsoftware.com/Content/Welcome.htm ) but came up short. You might have to pitch this one to MadCap. Speaking totally anecdotally, my read of the user base is that not many Flare users are outputting to FrameMaker. They are importing ...

Re: Document title in side navigation skin
Hi Dave, I gave this a try and it did not result in what I expected. Also, a niggling issue.
First, I used Jeanne's code change. The idea was to have the logo followed by text. In theory, it worked, but the positioning is wonky. The text is too close to the logo, and it is not centered vertically ...

What causes this FrameMaker target error?
I get this immediately upon trying to build a FrameMaker target. The only thing I found about this was an older post here that referred to a MC KB article that no longer exists.

Re: alternating background colors not working
You need to make sure you've wrapped the relevant rows in <tbody> tags, as this won't be done by default

Glossaries: Text or topic for definition, and why?
I have a glossary in Confluence that part of our (nascent) style guide. I thought I'd migrate it to Flare, now that I have everything in a single content repository. But when I added my first glossary term, I faced a choice that had my stymied: text or topic.

Re: alternating background colors not working
Yes. Changing the original to this:
table.agari_settings tr:nth-child(odd)
{
background: #FFFFFF;
}
Makes an all-white table. Much better for print, I think, that alternating colors.

Re: alternating background colors not working
It can add a little more work when putting a table together, but using tbody:nth-child(odd) and tbody:nth-child(even) will reliably alternate your shading. It worked for me in PDF the last time I tried it :)

Hm, I must have missed that. Twice. And I'm guessing that the default isn't "all files," which to me is sub-optimal.

No, there's no option to select types of files. Yes, I selected the check box to import linked files. Ah well, I figured I'd have to do some cleanup anyway.

Well that's weird. I did the create an empty project and then import both style, creating sub-folders for content in the 2nd project before I did the move to alleviate overwriting. Neither the TOCs not the targets from wither project were imported.

Re: Combining projects into one content repository
Hey, it occurs to me that you might more easily restructure Project B before importing. Assuming you have Resources and Topics folders AND that Project B isn’t too huge, you can probably get away with renaming them to Resources_B and Topics_B (and updating links when prompted). Again, the point is ...

Nita, certainly it's true that there's not much overlap. Mostly in the "common assets," as you say, but there will be content common to all as well. I know in the two projects I have, there's one whole section that I simply topic the topics from one project to another.

Combining projects into one content repository
So far in Flare, I've been working in two separate projects, one for each product. Each product has two outputs, which means conditions, variable sets with multiple definitions, etc. And of course this all means as the projects mature, the changes I make in one I have to make sure I make in the ...
