I am totally new at using JavaScript in MadCap Flare so bear with me.
I have a topic that will be dedicated to indexing videos. I added the videos as .webm (due to the secure browser we're using, and the sensitive information, we can't post our videos on YouTube). Adding the videos was easy enough ...

Re: Flare v16 list issues
Hi Nita! So yes, the Back gets you a new <p> within an <li> - I'd figured that out. I was specifically having trouble getting a new <p> after a <table> within a <li>. Hitting Back doesn't do anything in that case.
I did end up resolving it myself but forgot to delete this post. Using Shift+Enter ...

Flare v16 list issues
Hi all. Hopefully I'm able to describe this correctly. Version 16 came out with dozens of List enhancements. I'm finding that what I thought was the way to do things must have actually been my workaround to bugs. Here are the changes described in their KB, which I was using previous methods before ...

Omitting a boolean operator (+) from the search syntax
We have an F1 CSH hook up in our software to our HTML5 help guide. We use the form name of the window to initiate a search in the help guide. In the last couple of years, 2 new programs have been developed that contain a +. Luckily, when the F1 key is used on those programs, the + is removed and ...

Re: 2020 update - preview thumbnail images get stuck
I have this issue as well. Have you received an update or solution from support since opening the ticket?
Yes, I received a notice that it was submitted to development. With our software, if a bug is buggy or annoying enough, we release an immediate patch. This is my first run-in with a problem ...

Re: TOC headers are shrunk on PDF output
So, how to do what you want to do...
I'm not sure you can. Not easily anyway. If you define all print medium base headings (H1-H6) to have the same size/font/appearance as your default H1, you can fudge making the H1 of each topic the same size in the output, but you'd have also have to create ...

Re: TOC headers are shrunk on PDF output
Hmm... Although I did miss that article in the MadCap guide, that doesn't resolve the issue. I had, in fact, worked with the mc-heading-level with no luck. It's not necessarily the MiniTOC proxies themselves - they are displaying as expected. It's that the header styles that the MiniTOC is linking ...

TOC headers are shrunk on PDF output
For days I've thought this had to do with the MiniTOCs I was playing around with, but as a test, I decided to remove the MiniTOCs and build my PDF output. The result was the same. So here's what I've got.
In the Advanced tab of the Target, I had the "Use TOC depth for header levels" marked. I ...

Re: Turn OFF Track Changes. NO TRACKING please
@techwriter31 - I don't know why I didn't receive these replies. I thought I had the notification turned on. Knowing that I have to actually accept the changes is really helpful just in case I hit the hotkey again. Personally I wish that something that major was not a hotkey. I went for days making ...

Hi all. I feel like I should know this but I'm driving myself nuts. This is my second project, and I know I came across this in my first project and fixed it but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how. I'm beginning to build beta versions of my second project and in the lower right corner of ...

2020 update - preview thumbnail images get stuck
I tried to shorten that down as much as I could for the title. Has anyone else experienced this with the 2020 update? When I preview a topic, and click on a thumbnail image to expand it to full size, the preview window gets stuck on the image. Before, I was able to click on the image and it would ...

Re: Scaling images in PDF output?
We have a couple of PDF mediums in our stylesheets for our various PDF page sizes.
For our 8x11 PDFs, the body frame in the page layout is 7 inches wide, so I added the following to the .css for this medium:

{
max-width: 6.50in;

I originally had the max-width equal to the width of the ...

One Topic in a single TOC in multiple places
I did some searching in the forums and couldn't quite find the answer to my question, although I found similar threads. I do the technical authoring for a very large and involved accounting, payroll, and distribution (trucking) piece of software. There are a lot of concepts that link two different ...

Re: Turn OFF Track Changes. NO TRACKING please
I just want to jump in here. I recently accidentally hit the hotkey for tracking changes. I didn't realize it was doing it until I'd made hundreds of changes on a topic and went to review the code. I saw the message in the Text Editor that you shouldn't remove change tracking, so I didn't. Days ...

Re: Creating API Documents in Flare
Hi there. I just completed an API development guide recently, specifically for outside developers to hook up with our API. I had a lot of fun with it. I formatted JSON code samples using the <pre> tag, after I formatted the code using an online JSON formatter. Turned out pretty neat. I checked out ...

Massive Space Between a Header & Table
I've got a table that I use all over the place in my project. It's pretty standard - nothing fancy. There are two places (that I've noticed) where there's a massive space under a <h> tag and the top of the table, but only in the output. One instance has a larger space than the other instance (like ...

December 30 1600 Variable on Search Page
I was only able to find one other post about this, posted in January 2019. It didn't seem completely resolved.
I decided to add a date/time variable to my Master Page in my Top Nav project. In fact, I have 3 different Master Pages in that project, and at first I'd added it to all 3. When I built ...

Re: Formatted JSON Data in a Topic
Wow thanks so much. This is one of those times where I feel silly because during my googling, I'd read briefly about <pre> but dismissed it for some reason. This works out great. I don't mind styling some of the content as long as I can format it that easily. Thanks again!

Formatted JSON Data in a Topic
Our developers have asked me to move their API development guide into MadCap so we can publish it to the same destination as our program guide. For response samples, we're wanting to style the text like you would see in a JSON output program like Postman. I found a JSON formatter where I'm able to ...

I've been familiarizing myself with embedding videos in my project. I wanted to get some input on how others handled this.
I like Mimic for the creation and editing and the fact that we have own it already.

I'm a little lost and need some guidance. I feel like this question is asked in about 6 different ways every day, but I couldn't find the answer I needed in any previous thread.

Thanks a lot for the response.
If anyone out there uses the forums as much as I do and you come across this thread, this solution worked rather well. Instead of styling the <p> element inside the Text Editor of my Master Page, I created a new p.style class on my main stylesheet (duh, don't know ...
