Re: Glossary ceased appearing in Online output
Sorry. I hope my reply wasn't seen as condescending or abrasive. I was just surprised. It may be worth asking, at least, to see how the developers are backing up their code, to see if you can't follow a similar process. Then, if something happens to the docs, it would be a similar situation as would ...

Re: Glossary ceased appearing in Online output
Your management thinks that is an acceptable risk? Developing without source control? How do you handle parallel development? How do developers share code?

Re: PDF filename vs PDF title - spaces vs underscores
If you purchase Adobe Acrobat you can change the file name as a document setting, and you can set whether to display the filename or the document name. This suggests this is a setting MadCap could implement when the PDF is built. I'd recommend a feature request for now, with a work around being ...

Done. I think I added a bug request on a similar item before this...concerning unused topics showing up in the output, as well as losing comment lines in my topics during compiles. All-in-all, a good product...just a few cleanups would be nice!

Re: Glossary ceased appearing in Online output
I strongly recommend a source control system. If you are working in the software sector, perhaps you can use the same source control system that your developers use. Every night, I check my project back into the source control system. If ever anything happens, I can go back as many versions as I ...

BTW, after this post, I googled "Fire FTP FF3" and came up with a solution. Fire FTP has a beta version you can use in Firefox 3. It seems to be working for me today, so that is cool.

Re: Should I wait for Flare 4.0?
I'm another one-man show who would HIGHLY recommend a maintenance agreement. I've had great support, I've been able to resolve the problems I've encountered quickly, and I've had great access to the support staff. Plus free upgrades (less the price of the agreement, obviously). This is one item I ...

Re: Capture an Individual Button
I do exactly this in Capture.
Here is how I do it:
1. Maximize the window. (This is helpful if I ever need to re-capture the image.)
2. Take a full-screen capture
3. Save the image as the button name.
4. Press CTRL + SHIFT + P (or right-click on the image and select "File Properties")

Re: Capture only grabbing a tiny part of screen
If I were experiencing this issue, I'd probably rip out the MadCap registry entries and let Capture re-create them when you restart Capture.
You'd need to have all MadCap products closed. Then you'd remove the entries from the registry. Then you'd restart Capture/Flare. You'll have to "re-register ...

Re: Bulleted list using custom image
Be aware that Flare doesn't output your custom bullet image in Word output, if that is an output type that matters to you. The work around is to create the Word output, and then replace the bullet as a post-processing step in Word.

Re: window.name = "body" messes up displaying content in frames.
For what its worth, you don't have to have a maintenance contract to submit a bug request. You can do it here:
https://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx
Did you at least get a free upgrade to a newer version with your maintenance contract?

Here is a VERY UNSUPPORTED work around.

First, you must make a back-up copy of the original .js file, because if you modify this file and don't have a backup, you may need to reinstall the application to fix problems that arise.

Re: Running H/F without chapter number?
Is the chapter number part of the heading? The running H/F is going to pull whatever text is part of the heading. If the chapter number is part of the heading, it is going to get pulled.

David (RamonS) is right.
What happens is this: when you build an online version of your project, every file THAT IS NOT EXCLUDED is included in the project. That way you can include topics as links or in search that don't necessarily appear in your TOC.

Re: Is a simple TAB and Indent available?
The original question was just to get a simple TAB or Indent without having a pop-up window ask you to select from a blockquote, div, fieldset or form. I always just pushed ok and it seems to work. I am not performing any sort of "mass" changes or "mass" formatting but I simply wanted to push tab ...

Re: Index shows up in search
Here is my guess: I'm thinking that you provide both PRINT and ONLINE versions of your output, and you've added an INDEX topic with and Index proxy to your TOC so that you have an index in your output. Is that the case?
If so, be sure to add a print-only condition to the Index topic in the TOC (and ...

Re: Is a simple TAB and Indent available?
Oh. And I should note that my example uses the text-indent CSS property. That will indent the first line of a paragraph, like you get from Word. It's somewhat equivalent to adding a tab stop. If you want to indent the whole paragraph, then you would use the padding-left property, in the following ...
