Re: madcap flare red check box next to filename

You'll see a similar red check mark (tick) if you have access to the Source Control tab in your project:

Flare_sourceControl.png

The red tick means that you've Checked Out this file - no-one else who has access to this project can edit that file now, because you've reserved it for yourself. Once ...

Re: Create TOC from Links viewer list?

Yes, but that means a proxy exists that is able to scan through a topic and list all elements of a single type (div, a, etc) and generate a list of those items. I need precisely that feature, but for generating a list of xrefs.

Re: Can't log into project

I don't recognise the error, but it sounds like your project isn't hosted locally (i.e. saved on your computer) but stored on a remote drive. If you have to Check In or Check Out files when working on them, that also means you've got some sort of Source Control enabled, which is another network ...

Skip a level in MiniTOC?

I'm building some software release notes with the aim of sourcing both HTML5 and PDF output from a single TOC. Here's the TOC in question:
TOCexample.png

On the topic named "2019..." there's a mini-TOC to list all of the dependent pages, which I'd like to list all the topics UNDER the Archive ...

Re: Create TOC from Links viewer list?

I'm wondering if there's a way to achieve it via the available proxies. There's a List-of proxy available which looks like it would do exactly what I need it to (generate a list of in-page items), but it's not possible to select any MadCap items... or is there?

Create TOC from Links viewer list?

I've got a single topic file littered with cross-references. What I need to do is gather up all of the topics contained in those cross-references, and bundle them into a TOC (ideally as a sub-node under that parent topic), so that I can create an appendix chapter called References.

The Links Viewer ...

Re: Hiding content in PDF output via CSS

I thought someone had probably done it before, but I didn't expect the official docs to have such a specific example! That worked perfectly, thanks.

Hiding content in PDF output via CSS

Hi all,

My company has a vast HTML5 output, but a client has requested certain content to be delivered in PDFs. Since the topics make copious use of dropdowns, I've had to pepper all the pages with MadCap:conditions="Output.Online Only" to prevent the dropDownHotspot text from displaying in the PDF ...

Keyboard shortcuts for property windows

I'm experiencing a little UI "quirk" that's driving me mad. It's not a show-stopper, but it's enough of a niggle for me to start a new thread about it. Here's the process.

1. Press Ctrl-J to switch to the Content Explorer
2. Use the arrow/numpad to move through the file list
3. Press F4 to access ...

Applying styles to table cells

My firm uses a particularly bloated css, which means that for tables its not uncommmon to get a cell with a class like:
<td class="TableStyle-Large_Table_Column_Headers-BodyD-Column1-Body1">

However, occassionally I'd like to apply a second style to rows or cells, like:
style="background-colour ...

Re: Drag multiple topics to TOC

But how do you move all 50 back? I tried selecting them all in the TOC and dragging them up a node, but only one of the topics moved. If I try various combinations of holding the Shift key (like you would for multiple selections) then I get a Flare crash error.

Drag multiple topics to TOC

I'm building a new project with potentially hundreds of little topics nested in a complex folder structure. I can drag one folder containing 50 topics to a sub-node in the master TOC under a parent topic, but then the folder itself shows up in the TOC and the generated Table of Contents as well ...

Snippet as Table row?

I've got a master table of over 65 rows in one topic, and then single rows or small batches get re-used in other topics across the project. I'm trying to break this table up into a snippet per row, but I can't get anything working. Flare either shows "SnippetName: missing or bad snippet", or simply ...

Re: Anyone using Flare output with AEM/CQ5 - or know a devel

Adobe recently (last spring) introduced an XML Editor into AEM. It's called their XML Documentation solution (so you can google it, I don't want to link to a competitor here), and it's aimed at being a DITA-lite editor integrated into AEM's web author. It *might* make integrating into Flare easier ...

Custom name for variable definitions?

I've got a variable set containing a lot (up to 150) different definitions for a single variable. Each definition is a fairly long string containing an ID number and full name of a software coding object. This variable is embedded in multiple snippets, since and the same variable definition gets ...

Re: Snippets as table rows? Well, I never...

I just tried using snippets and variables to build some tables in Flare 14, but no dice.

To start, I built a basic snippet containing an 8x4 table. The table header names are static, and I defined the content of each row using 8 distinct variables. The trouble is, if you build this table as a ...
