Re: external program to edit image

Any particular reason you aren't using Capture?
No particular reason. We are using it. But as we can use MSpaint we want to calrify when such a program is added to this popup dialog. We also see our application "TAA" in the popup which is no image processing program.

Those menus are derived from ...

Re: Release Notes comments/questions

Release notes, always my first pit stop while the application is downloading...

In addition to the above feedback, it would be helpful to have the V11 Beta corrections split out into a second table. Anyone moving from an earlier version simply doesn't need to read them. I do see the value in them ...

Re: Yet another <File Path Is Too Long> error

Moving it to your local machine doesn't always work.

Sometimes it is also necessary to shorten file names within the project. Truncating the target name usually does it for me, but sometimes I've had to also shorten page layout names and image names.

It is some behind the scenes thing going on in ...

Re: Use Lingo even if translator uses something else?

According to our translation agency, the MadCap tags don't show up in Trados, so the translators just don't see them and can't know what they're doing to them.

Trados can be made to work with the tags by making edits to the html ini file (or making a new ini file for madcap html files).
You have ...

Re: Flare 8 Ribbon debate

... I finally found the "Options" button in the insane location that Microsoft set as a standard, down at the lower right corner of the "File" ribbon.

You're not alone... Support asked me to change it a day or so after I upgraded... they used the words "select Options in the File menu". I spotted ...

Re: Flare 8 Ribbon debate

A very simple solution to effectively nullify the "Ugh!" factor for existing users who may not like the ribbon is to have the software ask a one-off question when first loading V8 or newer to users who have earlier versions already installed - "Would you like to use the new Ribbon or legacy Toolbar ...

Tables are getting closer to how they should be.

EPS image support.

Finally the Home and End keys work on lines instead of whole paragraphs! (little things like that can be quite pleasing)

Re: Flare 4.1 so far

Can you elaborate on what those bugs are

All in the editor:
Tables with merged cells and columns that overlap become corrupt in the editor.
Importing or pasting in tables with same also become corrupt.
Pasting into tables works the old way (i.e. no "paste as" dialog).

Basically you can't do ...

Re: Flare 4.1 so far

I'm hoping 4.1 is a "lets get something out there before Christmas" update, and that 4.2 won't be far behind in 2009. There are some sleeper bugs in there that are absolutely murdering productivity if you use certain aspects of the software.

Re: Flare v4.1 Released

Fail on the table improvements. Its no good fixing the print outputs if the editor can't handle making complex tables in the first place :(

Should I submit duplicate tickets for Flare 4.1 for the table-related problems I submitted for 4.0?

I submitted this as a bug a while back and was told that it wasn't something they could fix, and that the workaround is to do what Lisa is saying.

Re: Flare 3.1.0 eval. crashes if blocked by Windows firewall

Probably something to do with it phoning home for license checking.

Earlier versions of Flare didn't handle odd networking configurations too well. Its gotten better over the last few builds, but simple things like disconnecting from a VPN while it is running can still crash it.
