Re: Font errors in PDF output

Just installed Acrobat Pro 2019.012.20040. I have gone through 15 PDFs that had the issue yesterday and I haven't seen the embed error once. :D

Re: Font errors in PDF output

Yeah, it does not seem like this is limited to PDFs created in Flare - this seems to be a bigger problem with the current version of Adobe Acrobat and embedded fonts. We received an invoice from a contractor yesterday and had exactly the same problem with it.
Yea. There are multiple threads on ...

Re: Font errors in PDF output

Adobe''s response :
We are aware that there is some defect in the MadCap Flare PDF files in terms of embedding of fonts that is no longer ignored by the most recent release of Acrobat/Reader.

I have one sample and am following up internally with regards to exactly what the problem is with how ...

Re: Font errors in PDF output

Yep. Yesterday, all my PDFs were fine. Today, I get the following message on all Flare-produced PDFs:

I don't have this issue on Word and Publisher PDFs. There are several threads on the Adobe forums so I hope this issue is fixed soon.

Re: Flare and Git binding

I had the same issue back in January, which I documented here:

https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=31195

As it turned out, it was a two-factor authentication (2FA), which our Git repository requires but Flare does not support. I had two create the following files :

And a follow-up to the previous post. I have found doing the following greatly reduces the number of errors when I push changes.
  • Keep the number of files in a single commit to less than 30 files.
  • On the Source Control tab click Synchronize instead of Push.

Flare inserting blank pages in front of tables in PDF output

Hi,

I have a PDF target that produces unneeded blank pages after the first and secondary headings and in front of tables as shown in the screenshot below.

And here's what the topic (Web Platform) looks like in the TOC.

Re: "Failed to convert to PDF Font:"

In my case, I was able to resolve the issue by right-clicking the font and selecting "Install for all users." This instructs Windows to put the font in the Windows/Fonts folder, rather than the appdata folder for a user.
Our intern was having this problem and this fixed it. Thank you, thad !

Re: Varaibles in Hyperlinks

Hi,

We use the following variables to create PDF file names in our PDF targets:

[%=Cover Variables.P/N:%] [%=Cover Variables.Product Name%] [%=Cover Variables.PDFGuideTitle%]

What I've been trying to do in our HTML5 help but without any luck is to use these variables in hyperlinks. For example ...

I've been using Flare since 2010 and I have rather embarrassing question. Up until lunchtime today when I inserted an image I would see four vertical bars to the left of the image

Now, however, that last "img" bar no longer displays. What's even odder is I can copy a ...

However, if I look at the Taskbar it shows that Capture is not running.

To follow-up on my last post, yes, it was a two-factor authentication issue. I had two create a two RSA keys but now I can pull changes from the repository made made by my coworker without issues. Today, unfortunately, I found I get errors when I try to push changes.

Only a fraction of images are imported from Word doc

Hi,

I imported a Word doc into Flare and everything seemed to go smoothly but with the normal issues I've seen in the past (e.g., I got a new unneeded style sheet). However, when I open the topic file I immediately noticed only a small fraction of the images were imported. (47 of 498 images were ...
