Just got a reply from support. Turns out Flare does not support snippets in topic templates, but there is a feature request about it.
Anyway, my big worry right now is my strong memory of reading that it was possible somewhere. Am I getting delusional? Losing my mind? Hallucinating ...? All of the ...

Snippets in topic templates
Does anyone use snippets in topic templates?
I am quite sure I read somewhere that that should be perfectly possible in some Madcap blog, or in the online help, but right now I can't find where. Anyway, the problem is it does not work for me. I get ”missing or bad snippet” when creating a new topic ...

Re: Code Snippets
I think it works quite well, but I have fairly simple code examples. I do miss the possibility to highlight parts of the code with, say yellow background, to point out that ”this needs to be changed to your server name” or whatever.

Re: download a file from a hyperlink
Did anyone get this to work? I am trying to do the same thing.
- Adding JPG and SQL files as external resources (the files are located in \Resources\Downloads).
- Inserting a hyperlink to an individual JPG/SQL file in a topic.
- Adding the download attribute to the link.
Result: the linked file ...

Re: Delete and backspace keys do not work
For what it's worth (if someone finds this topic). My Backspace just stopped working. Solved by adding ”Back” as the shortcut key for one of the Backspace options in File > Options > Keyboard Shortcuts tab. For me it was the second option (see screenshot), the first one deleted the entire word ...

Translation of FLSKN and/or FLLNG files
I don't really get my head around how the skin is handled by Lingo. Apparently the text string can reside in four places (from the help):
1. Stylesheet
2. HTML5 skin
3. Language skin
4. Legacy language skin, still in your AppData\Roaming folder
I don't use the language skin (there is one in the ...

Re: Can I have a template that doesn't insert a heading?
I am looking for the same. Does anyone know if it is possible to prevent headings from being inserted nowadays?
My templates have some info about last edited etc. at the top, then a placeholder text for the heading beneath it. The file name is inserted above the header when using the templates. It ...

Batch Replace Images
I have fiddled around with this a little bit to see how it works before I kick off the entire process. I tested in a small topic with three screenshots, two of them with callouts (text boxes made in Capture). Then created corresponding screenshots from localised versions of the software and batch ...

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the extremely quick response! Works like a charm. And gives the exact functionality I was after.
For the record: The formatting is not visible in the XML editor, but shows in the preview and in the output.

Yipee! ... Almost :(
Please tell me that any of you CSS wizards know how to apply a variable style class to an entire variable set. I have read the documentation, experimented back and forth, haven't succeeded. But I am quite confident I am missing something here.

Re: Default image style
Thanks for the suggestions! This particular style is a drop shadow and sizing, so I'd rather not edit the image itself, since we might decide we want to change the look some time in the future.

Re: Capturing Effective Dates
I have a row with ”last updated” in my topics (published for the reader to see) with the date format YYYY-MM-DD. So I can just search in Flare for say ”Last updated: 2019-12” and get a list with all topics that was last updated in December 2019 (i.e. ”last reviewed in December”). The search results ...

Default image style
Is it possible to apply a style to an image on image level (so to speak)? That is, every time I insert the image the style is already applied. I do not want all images styled this way, only this particular image (and several others of course, too many to create a snippet for each and every one of ...

Re: Copy and paste Code Snippets -- preserving indentation
Hi,
I am trying out the code snippet feature as well. Using the XML language will preserve the indentation when the copy button is used in HTM files. Copying the code itself and pasting seems to work too. Note: When I click the Copy button in the code snippet the page jumps to the top. I hope this ...

Re: Flare 9 HTML5 and TocPath in page links
In Flare 2020 it seems to be quite different as there's no MadCapAll.js anymore in that folder (Resources/WebHelp2/Desktop/Scripts).
But that folder now has a file MadCapHelpSystem.js.
I commented line 1148 to 1159 included and then my URLs of the HTML5 output is clean again.

Re: Flare 9 Quick Access Toolbar resets by itself
Just hade the same problem after upgrading to 2020 (v16). The old QAT was still in the \v15 folder, so copy that and place it in the folder for the appropriate version (\v16).
This might work for the original problem as well, instead of having to start all over with the QAT:
1. Copy the XML to ...

Flattening block snippets
Hi,
According to https://help.madcapsoftware.com/lingo11/Content/Lingo/Filters/Content-Flattening.htm , it should be possible to flatten block snippets (I assume they mean entire snippet files, as opposed to inline snippets). I can't for the life of me figure out where. There is only the Convert ...
