Re: Flare and Docs-as-Code

I don't think it can. And trying to fit Flare into a docs as code framework likely won't work. (But I would love to be proved wrong!)

Re: Flare and Docs-as-Code

Currently, I generate my Help system locally and store all all my source files and outputs in Git. I commit, push, and then submit a PR to have our internal test site is updated with the latest Help. A developer approves my PR, deploys, and updates the Help on test site. My updates could take ...

Bitbucket binding problem

A user in another division is having a problem using source control and binding to a project that already exists in Bitbucket server. Her manager contacted me to help fix the problem.

The project is already in Bitbucket and she has been using Sourcetree to perform source control tasks. She wants to ...

Re: Problems switching between git branches

We don't use Flare's git integration as it is unreliable. Our content is on an internal Bitbucket server and we use that and Sourcetree outside of Flare. We're waiting for a fix/improvement to the latest release before upgrading as well. :cry:

Re: Avoid page break after headings

One thing that I did wonder is that the instance that is being really stubborn is where an image is immediately after a heading so I was wonderring if the code only works with text. I was going to experiment further but I'd already sunk too much time into it.

You can include the img in a div as ...

Re: Avoid page break after headings

As far as I know, you can say avoid, but you can't say never. There's no "keep-with-next" like there is in Word. You could wrap the hed and the following para in a DIV -- maybe something like:
div.keeptogether
{
page-break-after: avoid;
page-break-inside: avoid;
}

Sometimes you just have to ...

Re: Moving the Primary Page Lout

You can move the layout from within Flare. Flare will find every use and ask if you want to change the links to match the new location. But before you do so, I'd ask again what is the reason for it being outside of the Page Layouts folder. If you don't understand, ask for a simpler explanation. No ...

Re: Multiple skins (HTML5 Tripane): change CSS?

I don't think @media would work here. Media queries are better for setting display criteria. When that criterion is met (screen width, resolution, etc.), a specific media query takes over. That's how I've been using it.
What I might do is create another style sheet for dyslexic readers and ...

Re: Topic-level stylesheet not working

I could be wrong on this. That "What's Noteworthy" note was not terribly clear, at least to me.

Oh. No. No, not clear. What if you have a stylesheet for the topic and a couple of table stylesheets? That note makes me think you can't have the table stylesheets -- which is wrong because you can ...

Anyone use Nexus Repository Pro?

There's some talk about moving our source control from Git to something called Nexus Repository Pro https://www.sonatype.com/products/repository-pro . The main reason seems to be a worry about binary files being too large for Git. I've done a quick check on our files, and that wouldn't be a problem ...

Re: 2021 R3 Source Control is Broken

Have there been any developments or movement on the problems caused by the change in behavior with Git? I have read different things on Slack and other areas. One person reported that he was told that it is working as designed and is not a bug, hence there is nothing to be fixed.

I have a problem setting the Cell Content Style in Column 1 and Column 2 for a table. The table is always 1 row with two columns. I've set the Cell Content Style for the first column to be
cell-content-style-tag: p;
cell-content-style-class: AgilentCaution;
and for the second column to be

If you use git outside of Flare -- like a lot of us do -- be aware that when you open a project, it is automatically bound to git. We normally handle all the git work outside of Flare. We don't want to do it in Flare as we've had too many errors and too many lost files. We've reverted back to r2 ...

That would be nice, but I don't know if Flare is capable of that at present. What I did a few years ago was to create a target for each customer. I was documenting a journal production system that was used by a lot of scientific and medical journal societies. Each society had different ways of doing ...

No Nita -- that helps--and I suspected something like that when looking at the two-cell table in the Properties dialog of the p.TOC1 style. I do like the leaders and the page numbers flush left, but have been told that style is very hard to read. Image

TOC that uses a tab to separate text and page number

Our new style is to create TOCs that resemble the attached. But I'm having a heckuva time figuring it out in Flare. I'm able to remove the leader, but am stuck on how to insert a tab between the head and the page number.

Well, you can use HTML -- I mean, if each step is a topic, you can certainly have just that step (topic) display. But as to EPUB or PDF, PDF can be used by virtually anyone. EPUB may require your users to download an EPUB reader (Kindle, etc.) to view.

Ask yourself where your audience will be when ...

Using a PDF as a cover and TOC issues

Good morning.
We use a PDF cover page that is copied into the Flare project. It is the first entry into the TOC. When the final project PDF builds, the cover page appears as an entry in the TOC. We'd like to have it not appear in the TOC. Is this possible?

Re: Is it normal for switching branches to take 5+ minutes?

Because of those issues, I no longer use Flare as the client for Git. I use Sourcetree with Github. It's just quicker, easier, and there are fewer errors.
