Re: Have you successfully created a PDF using the Frame target?

Thanks (although I'd rather believe more in skill & experience than luck ). I failed to mention that the person replaced here at Fox tipped me off about Flare, and all the source here at the time was in RoboHelp 5. So, we started by cleanly importing this source into Flare 2, with no links ...

Re: Have you successfully created a PDF using the Frame target?

Hello, jbarwick.

I'm rarely dropping in these days, so my apologies for the slow turnaround here with my response.
I'm only venturing a guess; perhaps my Frame source fixing might have to do with my level of Frame (6.0). Otherwise, perhaps some of it was due to the legacy of the original HTML ...

Re: this utility crashes Flare anytime used...

Hmmm. :? Now that I have a little time to thoroughly test this to the point of breakage...it doesn't seem to want to break today. I've tried multiple projects, arbitrarily picking different .htms of varying complexity, and so far, no program crash. At the moment I'm suspecting possible ...

this utility crashes Flare anytime used...

I've been snooping the forum for anyone having anything to say about Preview not working too well lately (XP Pro, ver. 3.1.0); any attempt to use it crashes Flare completely. I think we saw something similar last year, thanks to a Microsoft update; has there been a .NET upgrade recently that somehow ...

Re: Have you successfully created a PDF using the Frame target?

Hi again -

We've release the 2009 English owners manual, a 322 page pdf book outputted from Flare => Frame => .pdf. Go to http://www.foxracingshox.com/fox_tech_center/index.htm to view/download.
It should be said that Flare outputs reasonable Frame source, but considerable massaging in Framemaker ...

Re: Have you successfully created a PDF using the Frame target?

Yes; please visit http://www.foxracingshox.com/fox_tech_center/index.htm. I don't have time at the moment to address any issues, but in the meanwhile please feel free to download (xrefs will work if you download to local folder and open it from there).

I'm using Flare this way to provide the ...

I suppose it certainly won't hurt to share a peek at our customer service site. This was a legacy project outta RoboHelp, as some (most..?) of you will probably recognize right away. And, last but not least, SteveS: please believe me when I say that today is the first time I saw your skin entry ...

No worries, Dave. My start in all of this was with a consulting firm in SGML, so I was dragged kicking and screaming through a ton of legacy documentation in text editors, getting it converted into this mother ship markup language. So, it has all proven to be most advantageous for me in the long ...

Re:

Great. One more question: How do I format a system variable? I poked around help, the css file, and the edit variable screen but couldn't figure it out.

Notice that with the snippet of code/markup I shared here, I used the <p></p> tag to structurally encase the system markup with the text. Find ...

Re:

Wouldn't that update it every time anyone viewed the topic? That's the system clock, isn't it, not the file date/time?

Hmm. You're right. Back to the drawing board.

Are we sure about this? This is what I ended up doing but I haven't attached it to the project yet.

Well, it's not the case ...
