Happy Monday everyone!
If I want to have a footer at the bottom of all my topics for the Help version number and copyright info, what is the best way to do this for WebHelp output? Is it to create a snippet and paste it into each topic as the last paragraph?
Thanks much,
-Steph

Re: changing from one tag to another.. HOW?
I find it a lot easier to see what I'm doing if I have the Show Blocks and Show Spans feature on the the topic editor. Are you using them? With a new snippet open, you can see from the blocks on the left that there is an html, body, and p tag already present. If you typed or pasted text in that ...

Re: Browse sequences, TOCs, organizing tutorials?
Thanks Ramon, I'll give it a try and see what it does. I think my software engineer is going to expect "previous" and "next" buttons within the topic though, so I may be using a belt and suspenders in the end.

Browse sequences, TOCs, organizing tutorials?
I'm doing a Help that will have both reference sections and tutorial sections. I'm trying to see what the difference really is between browse sequences and the regular TOC from the user's point of view. From what I gather so far, they look so very similar in the navigation pane.

Style Class vs Paragraph Class ??
I need to change my name to Confused Newbie for a while!

Hi ktbCA57,
As a newbie with long-time Word person with no HTML or CSS background, jumping into Flare has been a wild ride for me too, you have my sympathy! But it is a really nice "place to work" now that I'm getting the hang of it.
Regarding tables, are you making classes from the table tags in ...

Re: Newbie: Best practices, orgainzing content
Thanks everyone. I'm reorganizing my files now. I will rename topics to take out the spaces - many of these were created from Word headings so have spaces, and need to be shortened anyway. I will keep it to two levels of subfolders in the Content folder.

Re: Newbie: Best practices, orgainzing content
Thanks for the input, and especially the warning about a possible crash - that would have alarmed me. So far I have moved single topics around, but i have not tried major surgery. I will back up my project first just in case.

Newbie: Best practices, orgainzing content
Hi all,
If one's Help file has several hundred topics, I am wondering if it is best to keep all of one's topics in the root content folder, or if it is okay to make subfolders to help keep track while working. I have the same questions regarding images - can I put them in subfolders to group all my ...

Re: Preserving Code Formatting
I am making a Help file for a programming environment, and this is what we do:
1. Create the topic with a PRE tag.
2. Since our code uses the symbols <, >, and & as operators (which are also seen as functional symbols and not content by the html code) , we first do a search and replace of those ...

Re: Not all image mapped popups working
Thanks for the explanation of how image map coordinates work, LTinker68. That's the kind of thing this newbie doesn't know. I am fairly new to Madcap, CSS, HTML, all of it, and this is my first large project from scratch.

Re: Not all image mapped popups working
Well, all I found on the Web about IE7 and image map problems were due to missing hashmarks with usemap, and those are present.
But, I did discover something else while experimenting. My mapped images are in a DIV tag along with a couple of paragraphs, and I've made a float: left image class to get ...

Re: Not all image mapped popups working
Actually, your point was taken. I have just finished downloading Firefox and testing the page, it is working in Firefox and not in IE7 so perhaps this is a bug in IE7, I will go look for help elsewhere on the Web to see if this is a known issue with a known solution since it hasn't been seen here ...

Thanks for the leads, Lisa and Ramon.

Everything works as it should.
On the second image, the hotspots are arranged approximately like this:

Cross-reference to auto-number paragraph label?
Hi All,
I'm a newbie, using Flare 4.2 with a WebHelp target. I'm used to working in MS Word.
I am trying to make figure captions that auto-number within a topic, so I set up a paragraph class and applied the auto-number and Figure label to it. So far, so good.
