Re: Odd tags spread throughout topics
Well, <p></p> will happen if you hit enter twice in a row. The others look like someone tried to format a single space or something. Which sounds like an odd thing to do... Were these topics imported from Word by any chance? If they came from documents that were edited by pointy-haired-boss type ...

Re: What are the condition tag precedence rules?
Conditional precedence isn't based on hierarchy level in the folder structure. The same conditions can be used inside your topic code, so hierarchical level isn't a reliable way to handle it.
The rules are:
1. Everything in the Content folder is included by default.
2. If an Exclude is explicitly ...

Re: Importing Help project from HelpStudio
Yes, I think the empty namespace declaration is the problem, as that is not valid XHTML. Flare requires the topic code to be valid in order to work with it. If you remove the innovasys namespace declaration, it should work.

Re: float:right text box in <ol> removing list numerals
Try putting the div before or after the list rather than in the middle. Because of the float it should still sit beside the list. My thinking is that placing the div in between the two lists is interfering with the continue parameter in some way.

Re: h vs p classes, div for indent levels, bullet images?
1. Do I need to change the p.heading classes to h1, h2, h3, and so on? Or is it OK to leave them as p.heading_1, p.heading_2, and so on? What are the pros and cons of the h vs. p class schemes? I'd like to go with "best practices."

Re: standard or 3rd party styles?
I don't think there is any restriction on using the stylesheet that comes with Flare. As far as using it goes, that depends on whether or not it fits with your corporate branding requirements. Your company may have different colours and fonts they want to use.

Re: Several master pages
Ok, I think I see the problem. In step 3, don't assign the main HTML tag to use a master page: instead, make a second class of the HTML tag called "Online" and in that class you assign the master page. Then you can simply go through your topics and tell them to be either "SOP" or "Online" to use the ...

AFAIK you should be able to do this using regular expressions (don't ask me how; every time I look at regular expression code some part of by brain pops out and gibbers...).
You can enable regular expressions or wildcards in the search panel.

Re: how do you right-align numbered list items?
I don't think that's quite what the OP is asking for: I think they want the numbers to the left, but to line up on the last digit rather than the first digit.
Carolyn's solution would work, though, just put the numbers in the left-side column and right justify them in the table cell.

Re: Error Converting Word file on Import
Cool!
I'd submit a bug report to Madcap, though. A) it really shouldn't care if the source file is read-only since it won't be writing anything to it, and B) if for whatever reason being read-only does matter, they should give you an error message that actually tells you something useful. How any ...

Never seen that before, so any suggestions are going to be trial and error guesses... but here goes:
- Try breaking the document up into smaller chunks. It could be a size issue, or it could be there's something embedded in the document that Flare can't handle. Saving the file to 3-5 smaller ...

The other issue, with table shading not displaying turns out to be a hardware problem. I have a dual monitor setup and I use a HP monitor in portrait mode as my main monitor and a Dell monitor in landscape mode as my secondary monitor. This is the one on which I was viewing the output.

Re: Style editor not saving changes?
Oh, one other thing - have Windows do a search in your Flare project folders for the stylesheet file and make sure there is only one copy. I ran into a situation a few years ago where a Flare user had imported a project from RoboHelp, and somehow in the process ended up with a copy of the stylesheet ...

Re: Style editor not saving changes?
To add to Lisa's points, one thing I have noticed with the Stylesheet editor is that if you make a change, Flare doesn't actually commit it until you click on another parameter in the editor. So what I would do is make your change to the autonumber, then click on a different parameter, then save the ...

First thing I would try is the Clean Project function under the Build menu: this deletes the contents of the output folder, so that the next build won't have any phantom files in it.

If that doesn't work, post the style code for both the body text and the copyright footer and we can check if we see anything that might cause sizing issues.

Re: float-left in image tags not working
True, but that doesn't make it best practice to design new content with deprecated attributes instead of the newer tags. In other words, if you have existing pages that use "Align" you can expect them to continue to work for the time being, but if you're making a new page it would be better to use ...

Re: Updating style sheets using copy/paste
For that matter, if they are essentially the same stylesheet with some additions added to the one, you could just replace the copy in the master location with the modified one. (Lisa's suggestion of making backups of both is still a best-practice, of course.)

Re: float-left in image tags not working
I'm irritated ... why float ? The attribute align is the one designed for this.
If you assign align="left" the image moves to the left edge and the following text stands right of it until the image is passed - then the text wraps around the image and starts at the left edge.
